whoneedssleepanyway · 26/08/2011 03:10

so had wax today havent had this therapist before said i just wanted extensive but specifically not brazillian (have had one before so know what one entails)

well she said to go pantless - ok unusual normally keep them on or paper pants but didnt say anything having had two DCs have bared all

then she pretty much gave me a brazillian said lets go nice and high

then she massaged the cream in everywhere i mean everywhere...normally they smear a little on and say rub in yourself.

is this a bit unusual?

What's the saying? It's normal........ for prison Grin

ReadyToDrink · 26/08/2011 20:16

Like how Joey has his inside leg measured by his family tailor, Sue? Grin

SuePurblybilt · 26/08/2011 20:18

That's the one.

AKissIsNotAContract · 26/08/2011 20:20

I have the hot wax, it hurts far less than the warm strips. I don't get any lotion though. Feeling rather jealous, I'd quite like lotion rubbed into my fanjo.

HellonHeels · 27/08/2011 09:06

Am I the only one wanting to hear more about the Middle East approach to waxing?

electra · 27/08/2011 09:20

I'm a beauty therapist. Personally I wouldn't ask someone to go knickerless if they were having a straightforward bikini wax - there is no need. Are you going on holiday? (wondering if there was an explanation for her to suggest going high). I also would not rub the lotion in - I would ask the client to do it. Actually, at college I was taught to ask the client to stretch their own skin for waxing in that area - preserving modesty is an important element of professional practice. If she made you feel uncomfortable then I would mention it to the salon and don't book in with her again.

oldenoughtowearpurple · 27/08/2011 09:29

I definitely want to hear more about the Middle East approach - reading this has confirmed that I will NEVER subject myself to waxing so I am happy to say this interest is purely prurient academic.

MadameCastafiore · 27/08/2011 11:15

I have a hollywood and hold my own skin taught to make it easier for the therapist.

Have the hot wax version and is much less painful too.

She does rub the cream in but not 'in' IYKWIM, and I always go pantless - one woman gives me a piece of tisue to preserve modesty (pointless imo) and the other just gets on with it.

Hands and knees bit is the only thing that I now feel a bit twitchy about. Even when she gets a few stragglers out with tweezers I don;t flinch or feel bad anymore - I questioned her once and she said that she has seen all sizes, shapes and colours and unless I had a face tattooed on my bits she doesn;t notice what they are like one way or another.

milkmilklemonade · 27/08/2011 11:42

I would oblige and tell you more about the Middle East experience but I would DEFINITELY get called a troll!

DuelingFanjo · 27/08/2011 11:49

I don't understand this 'the line I normally go up to' thing. Does this mean women have a furry hairy bit left at the top? I have never (and will never) had a wax.

catsareevil · 27/08/2011 11:52

Intrigued now about the middle east approach. Are we talking geography or technique?

HellonHeels · 27/08/2011 12:05

Awww go on milkmilk tell all! No trollery accusations from me. Public service broadcast.

milkmilklemonade · 27/08/2011 12:07

Well, for a start when you get there you have to undress from the waist down and there is NO modesty! No sheet or towel over you. First they spread the wax, then remove it and then do this slapping on the area they have just waxed with a cupped hand. (sounds like a seal clapping) lastly, they like to "do the inside maam" and holy crap that hurts! Also very concerned with the "back hole". Then slather on the cream with abandon and some do some massage.
I used to only have the side bits and it was the same then. I would recommend IPL permanent removal to anyone at least the pain is permanent.

whoneedssleepanyway · 27/08/2011 14:49

DuelingFanjo - what I mean was I don't get everything waxed off, so you could see the bit that needed to be waxed, i.e. the regrowth as it was shorter thinner regrowth IYKWIM, sorry if TMI.

I am sorry this thread made people think I was a troll, may ask for it to be deleted, kind of thought anything went, someone posted the other day about waxing everything using depilatory cream....and as I say posted it after been out for a few drinks.

Electra thanks, I think that was the point I was trying to make (albeit clumsily) that she made me feel uncomfortable and a therapist should make you feel at ease...she just kind of went ahead doing it her way without asking if I was ok with it.

Milkmilklemonade, I hope I never have to have a wax in the middle east!!!

ChuckYouFarlie · 27/08/2011 14:53

whoneedssleep don't worry about that 'trolling' accusation, it's been deleted already and you should ask what you like!

No sense beating around the bush Grin fnar fnar

ChuckYouFarlie · 27/08/2011 14:57

sorry for the appalling pun. at least I didn't talk about getting waxed in the Deep South...

TheProvincialLady · 27/08/2011 15:02

I think any concept of modesty is out of the window when you have an strange woman smearing hot wax onto your actual fanny and ripping it off. And making you assume undignified positions so she can get closer to your anus. Next time go naked and stand spreadeagled in the middle of the room - it won't be less modest.

OP, use a different therapist next time and don't give any more thought to it. It is highly unlikely that she was being deliberately inappropriate. Find someone more attuned to your preferences.

Honeydragon · 27/08/2011 17:11

I had the hotwax done scary middle east style complete with much rubbing of lotion. Now despite the fact I had aches in muscles that you don't even get fom pilates afterward, it was the only wax I've ever had that didn't result in ingrown hairs or itchy regrowth

Pagwatch · 27/08/2011 17:20

Hahahaha at beating about the bush.

HellonHeels · 27/08/2011 22:21

Middle East style sounds the business! No messing about.

Sariah · 27/08/2011 22:31

I don't know what the girl who gave me a bikini wax last week was doing. I was bleeding in 3 spots afterwards and there was bits of gloopy wax still stuck to me when I got home. It took her ages and at least 2 goes on each areas before she got the hair free. I was wondering afterwards if I should have groomed a bit more before I went in but I had a wax a couple of months ago so wasn't scarily hairy. I don't think I could go up on my hands and knees. Do you leave knickers on for that bit?
