Autumn/winter wishlist

happilyeverafter · 25/08/2011 13:04

Does anyone else want to share their autumn/winter lusts?

Mine are:

Cashmere or merino stripe sweater in navy/cream
Mid blue skinnies to wear with heels
Leather pencil skirt
Tan block heeled loafer
Black shoe/ankle boots possibly suede to wear with dresses/leather pencil

I had been hankering after some colored denims but after trying on dozens of pairs I havent found any that looked right on my substantial thighs so will just have to admire them from afar.

Vwa?

pamplemousserose · 25/08/2011 20:47

Madame, if you look on etsy you'll find someone who will make you one for a lot cheaper.

MissRead · 25/08/2011 21:20

Helena I actually tried that dress on today and it was short on me too - I'm 5'3ish. I liked the shape (although not the inability to wrap it to fit) but it was a bit inbetweeny - too long to wear over leggings/jeans but short enough that I'd be showing more leg than is fair to other people! Shame as it's a really nice dress apart from all that!

henrythecat · 25/08/2011 21:27

pamplemousserose VWA but much much cheaper obv

(are you named after a Lancome Juicy Tube by any chance? Wink)

pamplemousserose · 25/08/2011 21:34

No I am named after my favourite French word in this incarnation. Vwa are good for norks yes, but how about an Apple tummy.

henrythecat · 25/08/2011 22:00

Ahhh I see, a pineapple or something similar iirc from GCSE French?

I love the VWA look, kind of structured without actually being uncomfortable. Looking for jersey dresses in similar style really as workwear budget def does not stretch to £250+ for one dress. I'm a pear so bum and thighs more of an issue but would still wear hold 'em in pants for tummy with this sort of style. Apple wise, might be worth looking for a style that gives a more defined waist iyswim - like this for example (be still my beating heart)

madammecholet · 26/08/2011 10:31

Thanks pamplemousserose, I'll look on etsy......I know I SHOULD knit one myself, far cheaper and far more satisfying..

Elliptic5 · 26/08/2011 14:57

I'm really struggling with the AW thing as I can't wear anything with wool, cashmere, angora, merino etc etc content, as I'm so allergic, even with a long sleeved tee underneath the itching still gets me.

JonahB · 26/08/2011 15:13

as a style novice, i've seen lovely dresses out there for AW. What do you wear on your feet with them? Leggings? tights? boots?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2011 15:22

Link to lovely dresses? It depends on what kind of dresses they are as to what I'd wear on my feet tbh but I do tend to like boots and dresses in Autumn/Winter.

happilyeverafter · 26/08/2011 20:27

Dexter I love that brora unsure about the colours though.

Henry your list reads spookily like my current wardrobe! Remus I love your list, I have last years version of the white co cashmere mix button dress and it was very flattering, my mum asked if I had work done!

I would second tk maxx for scarves, also I have a 100% wool All Saints scarf, very pale grey/off white that cost £40 a couple of years ago and gets nicer with age.

Thanks for the heads-up re the dress: I will deffo go and try it on. Will also look in All Saints for scarves. I bought a red/navy one today in Tie Rack - nice and soft and v v colourful for me!

NinkyNonker · 27/08/2011 15:49

Hmmmm.

A navy roll neck
A nice tunic
Perhaps some tan/brown ankle boots
Some coloured jeans

My shape is changing every month it seems post baby so who knows!

TracyK · 27/08/2011 18:24

www.wraplondon.co.uk/fashion-W609-SMWAC/accessories/anouska-arm-warmers.htm these for me!
Also a soft grey leather jacket - although gave in looking and got a cheapy dusky pink one from La Redoute. Think its ok - maybe for darker days so's not to be too obvioulsy not real leather iykwim.
Will be getting some of those leopard print scarves from ebay - what size did you go for?
Also some nice high waisted charcoal leggings.

MissBeehiving · 27/08/2011 19:06

Work;

Tan loafers
Camel trousers
Hot pink suede courts
Lace skirt
Lace tshirts (cream/white)
Silk t shirts (grey/teal/cream)
Longline cardi

Weekend

Tan leather skirt
Knitted dress

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2011 19:10

Ooh yes - I want a lace t-shirt too. Have just seen a couple of contenders on the Banana Republic site and I think I saw some in French Connection too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2011 19:12

Some lovely scarves on the BR site as well

MissBeehiving · 27/08/2011 19:58

Yes - the FC ones are nice and what I want but I don't want to pay £42 for one. Will check out BR Smile

drfrosty · 29/08/2011 20:26

worldgonecrazy - what about this soft cosy rollneck -

www.celtic-sheepskin.co.uk/ladies/clothing/knitwear/chunky-knits/slouchy-sunday-roll-neck/#tab3

SickOnMyShoulder · 29/08/2011 20:36

got a yummy tan leather skirt in the oasis sale for £30 (smug)
still after a yummy stripey colourful jumper and knee high boots with a E fitting but normal leg width, do they exist??

worldgonecrazy · 30/08/2011 08:41

Thank you drfrosty, that is a lovely jumper. I have managed to find the perfect one in TKMaxx for £40, but I will keep that one on my Christmas wishlist in reserve.

happilyeverafter · 30/08/2011 09:12

John lewis had their own brand merino rollnecks on sale at the weekend for about £25, I tried a navy one but the fit wasnt long enough.
