Need narrow wells, like Hunters.. But not Hunters!

Puddle season is well and truly here... My cheapy pink wellies are an embarrassment so I'm looking to upgrade. Sorry I know neither stylish nor beautiful so hope this is an ok place to ask the question :)

I like Hunters wellies but EVERYMUM round here has a pair and I was wondering if there was anything else that was as good quality, fit etc but just.. A bit less clone ish?

Also if anyone knows what size you get, do you go up half a size for wellies?

No advice on the wellies, just Grin at the wells!

Maybe try Joules? Or Barbour? Think they have similar styles

Joules wellies are very wide on the calf (even on my generous calf). Why not just buy a pair of Hunters? Lots of mums here have them too. However, they are the best wellies by far for my daily trudge through fields and woods with my dog so I just have to not care. Does it really matter if everyone has the same wellies?

If you do go with Hunters, pay the tenner extra for the neoprene lined ones. My feet are always cold in winter but those babies keep them snug and cosy :o

What about le chameau? I had some bought for me ages ago and they still look like new. They are a snugger fit too

Lotkinsgonecurly · 25/08/2011 12:13

How about a pair of dubarry boots? They are leather and really lovely for trudging through the fields. Could also take you into town if necessary too.
Although I still have dubarry envy, I ended up buying these last year as they were half the price of the dubarry ones lovely . I love them I wore them all through the snow and rain with long skirts during the day they looked fine or jeans / trousers. They are a bit clompy but were also great for walking the dog etc. Cleaned up really well.

Meant to say I got a pair of sheepskin lined ones and my feet were never cold. In fact it meant that I always stayed warm.

agree with tulpe above,if you get hunters pay extra for the neoprene ones, toasty feet in those babies & every man & his wife has hunters here too but don't care as they are comfy, mine are never clean like some peoples are that wear them for fashion accesorries, always a muddy dusty covering on mine & get them online too,got mine from "gardens4less" I think it was, much cheaper & dh came from amazon :o

warmandwooly · 25/08/2011 14:26

I have also seen Hunter wellies @ TK Maxx on a few occassions or you coud buy att few pairs of cheaper wellies that have nice patterns on etc and just alternate whenever you feel like it.

Incapinka · 25/08/2011 15:12

Dubarry are brilliant but really expensive. I love my pair and live in them all winter. If too pricey there are usually a few on eBay

UntamedShrew · 25/08/2011 21:06

Thank you all! My day got better :)

Did you go up a size or a half size?

Loving the Dubarry...

Dubarrys I went up half a size. With tights on they fit so well that it doesn't matter if they are a bit big if that makes sense. You can also getfabulous liners to go in then when it's cold. I love mine!Grin
