Fake Bake question

I've just bought some and was about to get started when I read that I must use gloves? I didn't buy any and on the very few occasions that I've tried to DIY fake it, I've never used gloves. I've used Johnsons overnight stuff before.

Do I really need the gloves? Where can I get them?

You can get them from Boots

I've used moisturiser with a hint of tan before without using gloves and so long as I've washed my hands immediately afterwards have been fine. Not sure if the same would apply to actual fake tan though.
