I always go to Evans for boots.

I have these and they do up easily over my chunky calves.

Simply Be do wider calf boots, but I bought a pair last year and wasn't very impressed with the quality.

Try Duo ( in Bath, near me, but they also have a huge outlet sale in nearby Frome at least once a year)

So sorry, only read your initial thing about Duo just now!! It's wrong to write in haste sometimes. However, it's useful to know about their annual sale if it's expense that's stopping you, it's humungous!

Thanks.

Miss M when is the duo sale? Twas the expense that was putting me off!

Next are selling wider calf styles and they have a riding style pair. I haven't tried them.I have tried Duo and have to say they aren't the best quality. I bought a pair called Romano I think and they were short in the leg, baggy across the ankle and a meh brown colour. I kept them because they charge you to send them back. I should have sent them back. I took a chance on a longer style in the sale with a zip up the back of my calf. I measured them correctly but when they arrived they were huge so I had to swallow the cost in sending them back. Grrrr. I noticed the leather wasn't great quality either. Evans tend to be massive across the foot and Legroom are a bit frumpy in their styling to be honest and also baggy across the foot and ankle. Clarks sometimes do great ones but they are tricky to come by. Boden was doing some with an elasticated gusset last year which is ideal as it just stretches over the calf. Ebay might turn you up a pair. Hobbs do a similar design and although I haven't tried them, they get good reviews. I am a bit boots obsessed!

Clarks

Catswipe- thanks for your run down of boot mania! I tried some from Next maybe year before last, they were just wide in foot though not on the calfHmm though I could browse &/ see if they have anything different.

Will check out clarks!

Next are doing the wide calf now-I know what you mean about a couple of years ago supposed wide fit. There's a pair from last season in offers/sale that are black at the mo but they're limited to a size 40 I think....

MissRead · 19/08/2011 21:20

I've just invested in these which I'm really pleased with - they're wide in the calf but not the foot which I often find to be a problem. I noticed Next have some quite nice ones in the new A/W range as well.

lizardqueenie · 19/08/2011 21:40

Thanks for those of you who recommended clarks- I see that they do actual wide calf not just wide foot!

I really like my Duo boots... I didn't buy any last year so they may have gone downhill but I'd have recommended them based on my experience.
