A brand of lipstick for my mum, who is allergic to every brand tried so far....and by jingos, she's tried a lot!

My dear mum has bought (I think) every brand in an attempt to find one that doesn't make her lips tingle. She's suffered from psoriosos (sp?) for several decades and so has had to drastically cull her wearing of makeup in general.
The testing range has gone from £££££ to £ . We've visited 'arrods and 'arvey Nichols in an attempt to find that elusive product - to no avail.
So, I appeal to you wise people - what would you recommend.
If I could, in advance, rule out the usual suspects - Clinique etc? TIA

Try one of the mineral brands. Bare Essentuals or Lily Lolo. I think Lily Lolo only do glosses though.

I had a client recently with eczema and she was allergic to most make up. I recommended her to try Lily Lolo and she said it was the first thing she'd ever tried that she didn't react to at all. Mind you, her allergies were more skin and eye based and didn't have any problems with lipstick. Still, worth a try I guess as they won't have all the chemicals in them that a lot of department store brands contain.

I'd try one of these they are all natural and non toxic and will have different ingredients from anything she has tried from the high street.

My mum had that allergy test. Turns out she's allergic to axle grease! I'm assuming the derivative is in all types of cosmetics.

If she is allergic to this grease what about trying a different form of lip stick all together as I would imagine it's a pretty ubiquitous ingredient. A mix of lily lolo blusher with a natural (ie no mineral grease) lip balm, for example. Or one of the new pigment pens - sort of like a felt tip for lips. Revlon and clinique do them. Or try burts bees shimmer lip stick that I think kittens first recommended on here. In rhubarb.

Have you looked at green people? They do a make up range now, limited in colours but great for all those sensitive souls out there.

My mum couldn't take lanolin which is in a lot of products. She has always used Almay. I don't know if they still sell it in Boots but they do have a website. www.almay.com

I don't use lipstick, I tend to use lip balm with a twistable lip pencil, would that work? (No idea about the ingredients) I used a revlon lip pencil in wine, No.3, for years, but can't find it, so have been using boots No 7 twistable lip pencils, they are much softer than the pencils you sharpen and you can vary the strength of the colour with an extra swipe of lip balm.

What about Lipstick Queen? You can get it online from SpaceNK, or their website.

I don't really understand the ingredients thing, but I find them really gentle and they do colours in either heavy pigment or light pigment - the light one might be kinder to your mum's lips? Still provide a fairly substantial coverage. It explains it a bit better here, as well as linking to ingredients
