Tweezerman skin care tool - love it love it love it!

This bad boy

Was browsing in Boots today, wasting both time and money as I like to do, and I came across this. It was £9.99 and I had seen it before but resisted the urge, but was bored enough today and my basket was sparse enough that I decided to purchase. Well, glad I did, I love it!!!

Its a stainless steel thing (hard to describe, check out the link!) with no sharp edges but that you press and glide over your skin, and it sort of gently presses and removes the crud in your pores.

Obviously you could do the same thing with your fingers using the extraction technique they tend to use in facials, but I find that its easy to break the top layer of skin with your fingernails if you get overzealous, and this sort of does it for you so you can methodically sweep it slowly over your entire face (or poreish type areas like forehead, nose, chin, etc) and give yourself a good old hoover out.

I've just been playing around with it and my chin pores look much smaller and tighter than they were, simply because there is nothing in there! Yay!

Had to share my enthusiasm. Generally I don't rate tweezerman because their tweezers are bloody expensive and still go out of alignment like any cheap tweezer. But, for a tenner, this is no major investment and if you don't lose it, its a one off purchase really unlike tweezers and things which always go wrong eventually - this I can't see bending or breaking and you just can't go wrong if you have cloggy pores! I'd say use it in conjunction with an AHA type exfoliant and your skin could only improve.

Doesnt it make it awfully red afterwards?

TattyDevine · 04/08/2011 14:18

Not especially - I'm not a really "inflamed" person however, some people redden easily...just looked in the mirror then, about half an hour later, there is no sign that I've done it in terms of redness or "tool tracks"

So maybe you'd do it at night if you were a red person but generally its not an issue.

I am getting one of those! It looks brill.

Dillydollydaydream · 04/08/2011 16:06

Ah sounds fab :)
I have quite large pores (thanks mother).
I have previously enjoyed using those biore pore strips!

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/08/2011 16:35

DD1 has one of these - I bought it for the forest of blackheads she was cultivating on her nose. It is brilliant - all gone now, the entire nose deforested, and she just uses it on the odd one or two she gets now. The biore pore strips didn't touch them, but this has just done the whole trick. No scarring, just a little redness.

TattyDevine · 04/08/2011 17:17

That's what I like about it MrsS. Its kind of "idiot proof" so there's no real way you could damage yourself with it yet it does what it says on the tin. I'd confidently use it on a teenager's skin yet I wouldn't want to go digging around there with my hands even though I'd do it to myself.

I wonder if it can help prevent blockages too. Or maybe it would just stimulate more oil if you were prone anyway. Either way, I am very impressed thus far!

Thanks, getting it tomorrow for my teenage son !

TattyDevine · 04/08/2011 20:49

Scared now in case you hate it. Thus, I will compile a list of things one can use it for should it prove less popular from a skin point of view.

  1. Drain unblocker
  2. Earwax remover
  3. Barbie's mayonnaise whisk

I am at a loss for further uses but I will get back to you...

So does the crud literally get scraped out onto the surface of your skin?

AnyFuleKno · 04/08/2011 22:21

It's a comedone spoon. I made a terrible mess of my face trying to use these in the past, be careful!

If you are having trouble with spots I can highly recommend the regime on acne.org which I am often blathering about on here.

dottyaboutstripes · 05/08/2011 14:44

I have that but found it didn't work, which was a shame as I used to have a brilliant one but lost it

worldgonecrazy · 05/08/2011 15:24

I had a look for this in my local boots. Where was it? I was looking next to the tweezers - they had about 10 different types of Tweezerman tweezers but nothing that looked like this.

PorkChopSter · 05/08/2011 15:28

Amazon £9.70

travailtotravel · 05/08/2011 21:18

I have one. I love it. Have very big pores, and a good scrape once a week makes a good bit of a difference! (sorry, TMI).

ggirl · 05/08/2011 22:07

If anyone is tempted by the tweezerman eyelash curlers-don't bother , they're crap.

Henwelly · 05/08/2011 22:11

They used to sell these in the Body Shop.

youjusthaventearnedityetbaby · 06/08/2011 00:21

Thank you Tatty. Sincerely. I love love love it too and now have funny marks on my face plus a bright red nose... but No Blackheads :) Used in conjunction with my 12x magnifying mirror and Tweezerman very pointy indeed tweezers, this should make for a few happy hours :)

travailtotravel · 06/08/2011 11:20

Just what IS so satisfying about face crud?!

coastgirl · 08/08/2011 17:46

I just bought one of these inspired by this post - I used to have a similar one from the Body shop but it was smaller and you couldn't drag it across areas.

I have had an enjoyable afternoon and managed to declog DH too. Ah, joy!

TattyDevine · 08/08/2011 18:00

YAY!

A class act all round! Grin

Coastgirl - I was just reading this and dreaming of the fun I could have with husband's back!

CarrieOakey · 08/08/2011 18:14

Have just ordered one from Amazon. Will report back with crud removal progress in a few days Smile

takeonboard · 12/08/2011 08:48

I got one yesterday. Spent last night getting out more crud than I though was possible! My chin was slightly red but I probably over did it..............woke this morning with beautiful skin and the tiny pores of a 20 year old!
Thanks for recommending this OP, its not often something works better than expected Grin
