Is LUSH a rip off?

A friend of mine just loves their stuff. She gave me a couple of bath melts as a gift. They were nice. They were okay. But I didn't find them anything extraordinary.

Went into the shop this evening to get her Xmas pressie. They gave me their newsletter.

Had a rifle through it when I got home.

TBH, I wasn't impressed.

Am I the only one who finds this stuff a rip?

I'd rather be trapped in Lush than any of those hideous cosmetic counters you find in department stores. They really do make me feel sick.

teeavee · 02/12/2005 11:18

you know what makes me feel sick? People who wear so much foundation you can actually smell it

barf

After going in there last night, I know have a horrid attack of sinusitis. .

The bath bomb also leaves sedminent in the tub that's hard to get out.

Some stuff is nice, some isn't.

My bath has lilac sparkles from a Fairy Jasmine permanently welded into the enamel though.

prefer Body Shop. it's cheaper and the products are better, IMO.

I would have complained if their products stained my bath or basin

Blu · 02/12/2005 16:15

Marina - I am fascinated by the fact that you wear Norwegian Death Thrash Lacy Pants, it explains a lot, IMO.

Lush is not for me. Apart form the complaints already listed, the soap collapses into a nasty gelatinous gloop in your basin. The whole thing seems so teenage.

IOTAnnenbaum · 02/12/2005 16:22

I also have to hold my breath when I walk past Lush or else it sets off my asthma.

So obviously, I have never managed to get inside the shop

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 02/12/2005 16:24

it was at least partly my fault for not rinsing the bath down afterwards.

I do love their Butterball bathbombs though.

zippimistletoes · 02/12/2005 16:27

So if i was getting the dds something non staining as a stocking filler from the website what would you recommend and one has asthma/excema

novabrandybutterpowder · 03/12/2005 12:56

love love love lush!

For me their best ever product is Dream Cream, (which is also good for nappy rash you know, and can be used as a bath oil if you put a dollop in the bath)

Maybe best not to go for bath bombs or bubble baths as they are quite heavily scented.

dingdongmeggymooonhigh · 04/12/2005 10:00

NOva, dream cream is great isn't it. I used it in conjuction with the dreamwash and ds skin is now back to how is used to be. I also gave some to my neighbour when her ds had chicken pox and she/they thought it was wonderful.

SueW · 04/12/2005 10:06

I haye Lush too. But 8yo DD loves their bath bombs (at that price not v often though).

I stand outside the shop doing shallow breathing whilst she goes in and buys one for herself.

But.... we got some scents, bicarb, citric acid and made some ourselves which was a) better for DD to learn the process b) MUCH cheaper c) a lot of fun

DissLocated · 04/12/2005 10:18

Mmmmm ... Lush - I love it. I am a bit of a hippy though. Never had a bath staining problem with any of their stuff.

mrsflowerpot · 04/12/2005 10:21

DH had to go to work all glittery for a week after a Fairy Jasmine bath ball incident (grin). They called him Glitter Boy (grin) (grin). Damn stuff just wouldn't come off, he was furious with me. I was still bfeeding ds at the time and he had a glittery head for a while too.

I do like the baby bath bombs, and their solid shampoo which is fab for the gym. And they do a nice facial cleanser called Ultra Bland which I keep for when my skin is sore in the winter (in fact it's just come out again now).
