Anyone donated their hair to charity?

I am going for the big chop tomorrow (unless I bottle out) and have read about people donating their hair to the Little Princess Trust where they turn it into wigs for children. Has anyone done this? I am the world's most paranoid person and want to make sure it is above board and they aren't going to clone me or something. It looks genuine but I would like to hear real stories.

When my mother went from long to short she donated her hair to a charity called 'Locks of Love' - they make wigs for children who suffer hair loss and do not have enough money to buy a good wig. She said it was all very straightforward and very satisfying.
