Help with jeans - please!!

I really need help with jeans at the moment.

I can't wear any of the pairs I've got as they all feel too tight and I can't relax in them - and I really hate the idea of looking.

Had DD 19 months ago and bought 1 pair from White Stuff which were lovely but are really just too tight - they are a size 12

Trying to find another pair now but getting myself confused about what sort would suit me and what size as every jeans make i've looked at online seeme to be different. I'm short 5"3 but my legs are about 30" and I've got a horrible podgy tummy ;-( Any suggestions welcome about brands/styles please?

Cheers Liskey

tk maxx - that way you can get some well cut jeans but not spend a fortune. takes a bit of wading through to avoid the disco pockets but usually something good in there for less than 25 quid. also do you have one of those shops that sells second hand but good quality? ive bought seven for all mankind jeans before in one for 45 rather than 140.

NorksAreMessy · 27/07/2011 22:58

All jeans are hideous. You will never feel lovely in jeans until you get back into the size you feel you should be...and even then, they are never lovely.

And jeggings....OMFG Shock

jumpyjan · 27/07/2011 22:58

Recomend Gap jeans. Curvy fit are fab.

Liskey · 28/07/2011 11:51

Lol at the jeggings. Not sure i can get over that name Wink

But i like jeans! Though at the moment I am living in my walking trousers which must be worse?!

DH has now said we are going shopping on Sunday in Leeds for jeans for me after hearing me moan about it. They have gap and lots of other shops i haven't been near for about 18months. I must find something??

Lol i haven't had a period for months - type of contraception I'm on.

I'm not sure I can go back to wearing leggings though - I wore them when I was a student with doc.martins and huge jumpers - and that was gulp 20 years ago. Not sure I'm ever going to get my stomach muscles back - feels very sore indeed after pilates the other night.

Levi's curve skinny are lovely. They feel light on and don't fall down at all. Do it!!!!

Low rise jeans as a nightmare my DS2 is over 2 yrs now and my belly is still huge. I'm more 16-18. yet hips more 14. Also 5'3 so short legs not skinny.

I bought a nice pair from Oasis and recently a sale in Dickins & Jones.

Look for Lycra in the cotton too.

Always pulling them up. Never worth have a too small pair makes you feel so miserable.

Mabelface · 28/07/2011 17:28

Internationale do a very high waist, stretch, skinny jean that is only £21.99. I bought a pair today and love them a very lot. Grin

moaningmurtle · 28/07/2011 22:24

You sound about my shape and size. Steer clear of low rise hipster jeans, they are horrid for showing off a tummy. I've started buying NEXT 'high rise' jeans, they are great, cover my tummy (well I can tuck it into them :o) just get a longer top as they can make you look pregnant if youre carrying extra mid weight.

Boot leg ones too if your a shorty (like me) and, as tempting as it is not to, the right size, try on a 14 if needs be, good fitting jeans look slimmer and better than cramming yourself into stuff that doesn't fit

ajaybaines · 28/07/2011 22:29

If you're looking for something cheap while you get back into your size 12s (I've been trying to do that for a year and I'm still in size 14 jeans Blush

I got some really nice fitting jeans from Dorothy perkins today for £15. They also do 2 for £25. They've got them in boot cut, slim fit, skinny, all different styles. I'm an apple shape and have a v podgy tummy but they fit really, really comfortably and are very slimming.

I doubt they'll keep their shape well over time but I thought I might get a couple of pairs to wear regularly and keep one for 'best' so they don't lose shape from being washed too much.

Liskey · 29/07/2011 07:47

i think thats were I've gone wrong in the past looking at low rise jeans.

Thanks for all the ideas though not sure Dh will appreciate them as I drag him all round Leeds!

Just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to post - I'm now the proud owner of high waisted jeans (which admittedly i need to hem up) but they look great!
