curly hair - how do you dry yours?

I usually put a bit of oil and some curly frizz ease spray stuff and let it dry naturally. I end up with mostly corkscrewy type curls.
I tried using a round brush and blowdrying today and its a disaster. Its now bushy and wavy.
Please help me! I like having curly hair but sometimes long for a more polished version of corkscrews (wjich although nice are a bit 'girly' and unpolished iykwim?!)
Tell me how you cope with your curls!!

serum & a decent pair of straighteners for a polished look is the only way to deal with mine :o

Babyliss Big Hair works for me. I mostly just let it dry naturally, especially in the summer, and live with my random corkscrews, but the BBH loosens all the curls and makes it look much more polished and sleek.

I wondered whether I could use a bbh - what exactly is it? A diffuser type thing? What do you do with it? Just on my phone so can't watch a video on youtube.

It's a rotating hot brush. Gives the same effect as having a blowdry using a round brush but a lot, lot easier. You need to get it semi dry first, then finish it off with the BBH. There were loads of threads about it on here around Christmas time.

I plait it in 2 sections and let it dry then I use a babyliss conical wand in sections to get loose sophisticated curls rather than my 80s perm. That's my current look though more often than not it's in a topnot as I cannot be arsed.

Ok - thanks - how long does it take to bbh your whole head then? I wish you could hire these things before you buy!

Not sure TBH, I haven't done it for a while. Maybe 15 mins (hair is just below shoulder length). Rough dry it with a normal hairdryer first. Have you tried just drying it over a round brush? Might take a bit longer but would give you an idea of what the end result might look like.

A bit of curl creme, a minute of scrunching around and let it dry naturally. I get lots of corkscrewy curls as well. I cannot be arsed to do more.

With a round brush... but it's the technique: start with your most 'underneath' layer and dry in layers up to the top of your head.

God I wish someone had told me this when I was 16. I just turned my head upside down and attacked the whole bushy lot with a dryer and a paddle brush and it looked shit

Wash with a non-SLS shampoo and moisturising conditioner, wrap in towel but DO NOT towel dry, spray in lots of leave in conditioner add a bit of Boots curl creme and leave to dry naturally gets the best results. Do not touch. Routine found after lots of reading about curly hair!

I wash it with Dr Organic aloe vera shampoo and conditioner, smooth through some argan oil, wrap in a towel then leave it for half an hour. I then go to bed.

Voila, in the morning usually lots of fairly well defined curls. Unless someone's been having a joke on me ad it goes all ruffled on one side.

To get it sleek, I use heated rollers.

Can you recommend me a non sls shampoo queenofallbiscuits ?
Hmmm going to bed with damp hair - does it give you neck ache? But I like the idea of heated rollers and the associated hilda ogden look is something I already rock in my day to day life... I am such a virgin on these matters though - how do they work? Are you plugged in?
I've tried the round brush thing and just get it tangled up in my hair and a very aching arm after about 2 mins..!

I do what Queenofallbiscuits says apart from I don't avoid SLS and don't leave it in a towel as I have to go out too soon in the mornings and I don;t like going to bed with it damp either. I do however avoid silicones in conditioners, using Aussie Frizz miracle shampoo and conditioner and Boots Organics leave in conditioner before the Curl Creme. When leaving it to dry naturally I just comb through with a wide tooth comb and let it hang, if drying I use the BBH. As ChuckyouFarlie says, if you are blowdrying either with a round brush, or using a BBH, you need to do the underneath layers first, I clip mine all up from about the bottom of me ears first to do the bottom layer, then let it down to about the top of my ears for the middle layer, then do the top layer last. Just use a big grabby clip thing.

I tried avoiding SLS, used Dr Organic for a few months, but hated it, my hair never felt clean, avoiding silicones (which also means no Frizz ease) has really helped it's condition. The combination I am using now leaves it silky and well defined with minimal frizz.

Sorry I didn't mean leave it in the towel I just meant don't rub dry! I tend to just blot. My current shampoo is horns and halo which is a baby.shampoo. I also use a clarifying shampoo every 10 days or so.
I think soap and glory in boots do a non sls shampoo as well.

Dr Organic is non-organic and has a website which tells you all about which one is suitable for your hairtype. They are very good.

The plug in rollers heat in a case then you put them in. You are not attached to the wall or anything...

I only shower in the evenings so I can let me hair dry naturally. I either tie it in bunches or put it in a hair net so it dries overnight.

I have some Argan oil but it hasn't worked at miracle.

I do Curly Girl so I don't really use shampoo (I just use a non SLS one about once a week) and definitely no sicone. I wash everyday with conditioner, then condition as normal. I put Boots Pink Curl Creme then Umberto Giannini gel on and leave it to dry as much as possible. Then if I really need to, give it a blast with the diffuser and scrunch.

Naturally, after wrapping it in a towl for about 3 mins and then spraying it with Aussie Moist leave in conditioner and putting some serum in it. IMO curly hair should never be blow dried.
