Hi, can you recommend a nail polish that a) is easy to apply b) has good coverage and staying power and c) is under a tenner?

I love Nails Inc, but recently tried No 7 stay perfect and was really disappointed

OP posts:
CarrieOakey · 26/07/2011 10:25

I was going to say Nails Inc but you have already discovered them!

oiwheresthecoffee · 26/07/2011 10:26

Opi is pretty good.

BulletWithAName · 26/07/2011 10:47

Opi. I can't afford it though Angry

steben · 26/07/2011 11:00

I would highly reccommend Rimmel Lycrawear - really good coverage and usually lasts a good few days, i use two coats though and also a top coat. Excellent value as well...I have a few Jessica polishes and it matches up well to them

Jazzicatz · 26/07/2011 11:06

OPI is just fantastic and lasts amazingly well!

chipstick10 · 26/07/2011 14:58

Another shout out for opi

ClaireDeLoon · 26/07/2011 15:05

Rather predictably it seems I'd like to suggest OPI.

MooMinCow · 26/07/2011 15:48

spend the money on a decent quick dry top coat like Nails Inc or Seche vite. they make any cheap nail polish look glossy and expensive. otherwise I would say OPI, nails Inc, Rimmel and ( believe it or not ) Aldi are the most hardwearing IME

EdithWeston · 26/07/2011 15:53

Avon. It goes on well, lasts well, the speed dry one's really are quick, and they're often on offer so even cheaper that the headline price (which is usually no more the £7 in the first place).

Gastonladybird · 26/07/2011 15:55

Essie are best but not in budget- if not then revlon or bourjois

SarahScot · 26/07/2011 16:36

I was going to say Rimmel Lycra too. It lasts well and is foolproof to apply thanks to the fab brush.

BulletWithAName · 26/07/2011 16:39

I like Barry M, as well, for the money it's great and the colours are fantastic.

BlooCowWonders · 26/07/2011 16:44

agree with both nails inc (best), and no 7 (disappointing).

Have you looked at QVC? They're always doing Nails inc collections, and the prices per pot are v good.

Pippaandpolly · 26/07/2011 16:51

Jessica beat OPI and Essie for quality and staying power in my opinion.

Gillybobs · 26/07/2011 17:01

Rimmel Lycrawear is fantastic

sedgiebaby · 26/07/2011 17:44

OPI has the edge for me but a base coat and top coat will help with any brand also swiping the free edge with each coat extends wear.

With OPI it is not too expensive if you know someone with a sally's trade card, they are 4.75 plus vat and each month they have a VAT free day normally a Thursday

lawnimp · 26/07/2011 17:49

nails inc doesn't last very long at all for the price ime!

which is a bugger as they have the best shades by a mile

iloveeverton · 26/07/2011 19:25

i like barry m

Karbea · 26/07/2011 19:38

I used to only use poi, but my new beautician uses Jessica and I'd say it is much better, more hardwearing, although opi has nicer colours.

TheThingUpstairs · 26/07/2011 19:46

Barry M.

Macaroona · 26/07/2011 19:47

Rimmel Lycra one. Not the 3 min one, that's rubbish Smile

RichTeaAreCrap · 26/07/2011 20:30

OPI is longer lasting that Jessica imo. I like OPI, Essie and CND, all great.

ByTheSea · 26/07/2011 20:31

I like the Rimmel Lycra one as well. A base coat, 2 coats and a top coat lasts me a week on my fingers or almost 3-4 weeks on my toes.

ClaireDeLoon · 26/07/2011 20:43

I find OPI lasts longer than Jessica but it's not a huge difference. I do like Jessica base coats though.

OPI just have great shades and names though.

FreeButtonBee · 26/07/2011 20:55

Opi best in my opinion; but paired with seche vite top coat. Any old base coat; i find it's just to prevent discolouration of the nail bed and doesn't make any difference for the lasting power.
