A kingfisher coloured top and dark blue jeans?

Right I have bought some new darkish, slightly boot leg jeans and a "kingfisher" (read lightish turquoise) coloured top, its crinkly, narrow straps and has beading which is the same colour as the top and also gold. What shall I wear with it?

I think I need the following:
shoes - was thinking gold heels with peep toes
belt - not sure whether to bother because top comes down past waist
something to wear over top - seen gold shrugs for £5.99 in H&M - is this too much gold?
jewellry
bag - what colour - is matching shoes and bag naff?

I am going shopping tomorrow about 8pm.

Gold sounds great.

It would look nice because it's spaced out IYKWIM, you''ll have the shoes, bag which will be half way up and then the shrug at the top.

Whats the neckline on the top like? Could you wear a necklace with it?

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 11:31

it i were you, this is what i would wear

gold shrug (sounds gorgeous! am going to look for this myself in h&m!)
gold strappy shoes
gold bag (there are hundreds in the shops)
gold dangly earrings

and thats it

but im small and sometimes look too much with bangles and necklaces

what is your hair like?

moondog · 30/11/2005 11:37

Hmmm..reckon that is a bit of a gold overload meself np.She'll look like a Terry's All Gold!
Take at least one out of the equation.

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 11:42

next have a gorgeous pair of blue wedges - would look fab with the jeans (since moondog was moaning)

the shoes would be a bit hidden by the jeans, the earrings could be discreet and the bag could be a metallic one (so not in yer face gold)

long very thin earrings i was thinking of, esp nice if with long hair

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 11:44

and it IS christmas so you can get away with anything...

moondog · 30/11/2005 11:53

lol
I am liking your subsequent compromises however....

Bozza · 30/11/2005 12:13

Right I have longish hair - shoulder length. I don't wear earrings because I don't have my ears pierced. I am 5' 4". The neckline is fairly low and goes down in the middle IYSWIM so ATM there is quite an expanse of flesh in that area. Although if I bought a shrug this would reduce it, at least until I took it off. Not bothered particularly about a shrug but need something to keep the cold off and nothing I currently have is suitable.

I would prefer gold shoes because then I could wear them with the brown dress I bought last year that I was planning on wearing on New Years Eve when we take the kids out for a meal.

And price is an issue!

next have gorgeous gold mules

maybe a necklace, very simple and long and elegant

frannyandzooey · 30/11/2005 12:41

I would do gold shoes and shrug, nothing else gold. You could get a mixed colour necklace, maybe browns and blues, with a brown bag?

Bozza · 30/11/2005 12:45

Ooh brown a good idea. Then it would go with my dress as well. So do you think a shrug is definitely the way to go? Quite like some of the velvet jackets around but they are too expensive.

Thanks everyone for your ideas so far.

take a look at the next shoes, they are fab, not shiny gold but matte

they are so fab

have longed for them for ages myself

Bozza · 30/11/2005 13:55

Which ones are they? Have had a look online but couldn't work out which ones you meant?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 30/11/2005 14:00

they are called glitter wedges

top right hand side of the screen on next website

and have you seen the bags in oasis? i keep banging on about it but they have a fabulous bag in soft metallic gold with a padlock that is almost an exact copy of a chloe bag that would cost you £££££££'s

bundle · 30/11/2005 14:01

i think jade green goes nicely with kingfisher blue, and big wooden beads/pom poms are very now.

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 14:05

but can you wear big wooden beads with gold shrugs/gold shoes etc

if you go with the coloured jewellery i would get kingfisher shoes and bag, or maybe these blue shoes from next (oh i want them too!) blue sequin wedge sandal

i also spotted very kingfisher-like shoes on the next website (no i dont work for next!)

Bozza · 30/11/2005 14:07

Ah the £19.99 ones? Good price. Bundle agree with you about the jade but not sure about what I would wear with my brown dress at New Year then.

OP posts:
frannyandzooey · 30/11/2005 14:08

I think jade / blue / brown / gold all go nicely with each other in virtually any combination.

Bozza · 30/11/2005 14:12

So I could wear jade shoes and a brown dress?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 30/11/2005 14:12

if you had other jade accessories

Bozza · 30/11/2005 14:12

See this is the problem when you get adventurous and don't just stick to black.

OP posts:
bundle · 30/11/2005 14:12

what about this, the felt pompom necklace at the top?

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 14:13

ive got a gold one of these

from h&m

Bozza · 30/11/2005 14:18

Yes I like that bundle.
