What do teenage boys wear to weddings these days?

I haven't been to a wedding for ages so have no idea what to suggest to my sons aged 14 and 16.

The wedding will be in the south of England (not sure why I mentioned that) and its the first wedding of both the bride and groom although they are in their 40s. It will be a civil wedding in a posh venue.

I have just realised that they only own one smart pair of shoes between them and when they are not in school uniform they wear jeans and t shirts.

I have got to drag them round the shops and as they are reluctant shoppers I would like some inspiration before we set off.

Boy(13ish) at my wedding wore dark trousers white shirt and a waistcoat, that was 3 years ago. the others wore kilts, but we are Scottish in Scotland os that was ok too!

Gap is your friend - shirt and chino-type things. Not sure about the shoes - mine just wear new-ish converses, but your wedding may be more formal.

It depends how smart a wedding it is - my nephews wore black trousers and smart shirts (not tucked in) for my wedding, but my friend's boys wore lovely suits (complete with jackets and waistcoats)
my friend's boys looked better.....

Chinos and ironed open neck shirts in colours that suit them is probably the most achievable compromise.

I'd say dark slim or skinny fit trousers, a shirt and a skinny tie? Loads of nice things in Zara (xs mens size is tiny, fits my almost 13yo). Not a fan of Next but this kind of look If its a posh venue I think maybe chinos/converse may be a bit too casual.
