I would think that any of them would be suitable. I love the grey one - beautiful.

wordfactory · 20/07/2011 22:18

Oh thank you.

Really love the lkbennett one

FoundWanting · 20/07/2011 22:20

I don't think you'd be overdressed in any of them.

wordfactory · 20/07/2011 22:27

found I really don't want to be.

I've got smarter stuff iyswim but I'm hosting a table on Saturday and it's really important to me that I don't look showy offy iyswim.

wordfactory · 20/07/2011 22:29

But I want to look like I've made the effort.

Gah.

The grey one is lovely.

FoundWanting · 20/07/2011 22:32

Are your guests not going to feel over-dressed if the hostess is dressed down?

The Monsoon one is too 'garden party', and the IO is just a day dress. So, I suppose the red one.

wordfactory · 20/07/2011 22:37

So two votes for the grey one...with silver heels maybe?

found...thw dynamic are tricky. Or maybe I am making them so Grin. But I will already be centre of attention as hostess and don't want to play the big I am if that makes sense.

Definitely the red one. The others aren't 'black tie' at all, not even dressed up with jewellery.

nothingnatural · 21/07/2011 08:24

They are all lovely frocks, but none of them are really black tie are they.

I agree the red is probably the most glam.

What are your other options? You said you had some smarter stuff . . .

wordfactory · 21/07/2011 08:53

I wore somehting very similar to this to the last ball I went to www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Anoushka+G+Tulla+dress/150975581,default,pd.html?cgid=301 but this is most definitely not a ball.

I'm not even sure why they are calling it a black tie event...it's the dinner to celebrate a three day event if you know what I mean.
