How do you use a tan mitt?

I have recently invested in a tan mitt. I usually apply fake tan with my hands with varying degrees of success. The mitt looks quite fluffy and says that it should be used dry - won't this just rub off all the tanning gel? Or do I apply the gel to the mitt and then rub onto my legs etc. Eeek Help needed please!

I tend to apply the tan to the mitt and then apply to bod. I have to say, since I have started using a mitt, my tan is infinitely better, much more even and I wouldn't be without it.

Tan mitts are the best thing ever, you may use a bit more product but the end result is way better.
