How do you know when your hair needs a cut?

i can never remember how long i leave between cuts. its now a BEAUTEOUS lenght but i think it needs a cut. for me i THINK this means it goes all pointy at the ends.

is this a sign of a trim needed - or am i imagining it? why does it go pointy?

It's the ends dryness. When the frizz ease and ghds don't get it smooth I know it's the death knell. My hairdresser is trying to get me in every 6 weeks. Never going to happen. I do think he didn't take much of last time to try and get me in sooner. Sly dog.

I get mine cut when it gets really tangly. So currently, every 5 months or so

lawnimp · 20/07/2011 15:15

when it takes me longer than 10 minutes to do

CountBapula · 20/07/2011 15:15

I go when it just starts to look a bit shit no matter what I do to it and it starts to annoy me.

aStarInStrangeways · 20/07/2011 15:47

CountBapula beat me to it. Mine is exactly the same.

AnnThology · 20/07/2011 15:48

I've not been since I was preggers with 8 mth old DD. Looking decidedly sheepdoggy now.

piratecat · 20/07/2011 15:54

must depend on air, condition, length and type?

mine is straight and short/mid length. i dye it every 5 weeks or so. I can get away with 3 cuts a yr! Depends if you are keeping up a style too.

I am growing mine, just realised i haven't been since FEB oops

DottyDot · 20/07/2011 15:57

yep I've not been since February either but have an appointment for tomorrow and can't bloody wait.... mine's usually fine for ages and then suddenly seems to go both limp and frizzy and just looks crapola until I get it cut.

valiumredhead · 20/07/2011 17:24

I have mine cut every 8 - 10 weeks, I make an appt when I pay at the salon otherwise I can;t get an appt when I want one.

apple99 · 20/07/2011 17:29

Mine needs cutting when it starts feeling too thick. Needs a good thinning out every 8-10 weeks usually.
