School Uniform: why is so much of it polyester / viscose blend? Is anything else available?

Hello,

I've spent all evening surfing for school uniform that isn't made of polyester / viscose blend. I know it's easier to iron and perhaps wears better if its coated in Teflon. But I still don't want crispy man made fibres - I don't wear them, we've avoided them so far, so why start when our daughter goes to school? I really don't get it. Have found a few Skinkind things at M&S but they're 100% cotton and look a bit weird. Any advice would be gratefully received. Would especially love some wool blend dresses and skirts. Don't want to pay the earth, but on the other hand, I have such hideous memories of itchy shiny trousers and skirts...

did you find anything? I think John Lewis do some, but not sure how much. I'm with you on this one, and the cheap polyester blend trousers I bought at Asda wash awful and already look terrible, and that's without tumbling them.

Marks and spencer do a range of skin kind, 100% cotton, flat seamed uniforms, cotton comfort also do some.

I spent hours rifling through the racks of shirts in m and s for NON non-iron. I agree with you I want natural fibres and 100% cotton shirts but this seems a lot to ask these days
