school bag for DD

Apparently it's just so KS1 to have a school bookbag, and so my soon to be Y3 DD has asked if she can have a different bag for school in September.

They're not meant to have rucksack type bags (too many children getting smacked in the face as a different child turns round with them on their back), so I need something that is messenger bag-style or satchel style, large enough to take an A4 homework folder but not so gigantic it dwarfs an 8 year old.

Can anyone help? What do your DDs carry to school?

I got this bag for my daughter who is starting year 7 in September. She got it in blue which doesn't seem to be available any more. She loves it! The quality is very high and it is plenty big enough for A4 stuff and books. I can really recommend it.

This is just the sort of thing I had in mind. DD would think it was great in the red.

Ironically, my nana bought me a bag similar to this when I was about 11 myself, and at the time I thought it was just the geekiest, saddest thing I'd ever seen, and spent most of that year scuttling from room to room hoping no one would notice it!
