Asked before surely but are Birkenstocks ugly and frumpy?

I was wondering about getting some for my holidays as they would be more practical than flipflops around town I imagine. But are they frumpy??

mumble I have these pink madrids from TK maxx, £19 IIRC.

I have the bright red Madrids and I love them. I skipped walked five miles down the Champs Elysees and around Paree today, and my feet were as comfy as comfy things.

And if you wear them all summer and your feet spread madly, you can just go straight to Uggs come September.

Uma is a 6 foot former model. She looks good in spite of her birkenstocks, not because of them.
