Where to buy clothes for teenage boy.

I have a 15 year old son. His style on a good day could be described as 'tramp dragged though a hedge backwards'. Usually I let him get on with it but we are going on holiday soon and his 1 decent pair of shorts and two tshirts are not going to be enough!

I've offered to take him shopping and he is not interested. I've offered to give him the money to buy for himself and he is not interested. So I am going to have to shop for him.

I don't want to go down the ubiquitous A&F/Hollister route unless I have to so where do I go?

Please help me!

ps - I've made him sound like a nightmare, he really isn't. He is a lovely, thoughtful, funny, sensible young man. He just isn't interested in clothes.

Depending on his physique, you may be able to buy some stuff at Uniqlo. Otherwise, Topman is pretty good, and they have XXS sizes as well.

However, if he's really not interested, don't spend the kind of money that A&F/Hollister charge! You can buy perfectly serviceable/decent t-shirts and shorts in Sainsbury/Tesco/ASDA, or in M&S or the Next Directory.

Thanks. Have never heard of Uniqlo. Are they online? He is 6' 1", 32" waist and a medium in most t shirts.

I would like him to have nice, fashionable clothes so will try and avoid the 'dad' shops unless I'm desperate!.

Don't underestimate what you can buy in the supermarkets, kara - they have some very fashionable stuff!

Topman have quite a few nice inoffensive t-shirts (loads have slogans on and stuff but some are quite cool) and shorts etc, and uniqlo is great for plain tshirts.. and H&M men's isn't bad either.

You could take a look in River Island too, they have some nice shorts although I did see some horrid tshirts in there!

You can get cool tshirts online too, maybe that would interest him more?

We get a lot in Zara but DS is only 12. Top Man and H and M also.

My oldest likes Blue Inc and D2 - the prices there dont break the bank!

My ds is obsessed with Jack Wills. I wish he wasnt its very expensive. However he saves his bday money and pocket money and we contribute. He is totally kitted out in it, very good quality though.

Burtons. My ds went through the a&f stage etc and now tells me that good old Burtons is the thing. They have some great and cheap t shirts.

Ds (15) dragged me to TK Max the other day for a couple of Ralph Lauren tops he was after...

I buy him stuff in Gap, River Island, H&M and Top Man.

Oh and he's been out shopping himself and bought some t-shirts, Adidas, that sort of thing in JJB Sports or something similar.

I've found some nice things in H&M - trendy but not yobby and none too pricey, either. And the acid test - after much grunting and eye-rolling, ds actually wore the clothes.

Famous last words, but I refuse to be fleeced for a t-shirt with a big "H" on it. And I've pointed out to ds that I've seen dads wearing Jack Wills now.

Uniqlo looks promising but sold out in his size in a lot of stuff. Will have a proper look through though and see what left. There is a pair of shorts and a shirt on the Fat Face site that I will order as well.

I will also have a browse round H&M and Top Man. Slogans are out apparantly as are visible brand names. Seems that for someone not interested in clothes he can be mighty fussy when he wants to be!

H&M and Zara mens dept, neat made so XS and S fit my not quite 13 yo. I'd be lost without them at the moment.

I have 3 boys and they get virtually all their clothes there. Very good prices for labels like Quicksilver, Timberland etc and no shopping trips with grumpy kids

H and m usually has some nice boy things in.

As does river island and blue Inc.

Primark, asda, tesco and next usually have plain cotton tees.
