hi i'm going out tomorro night for my little brothers 18th and seein as i've not been out for a while want to make a bit of an effort. My mum is takin my 2 DS's in the afternoon...so was thinking of curling my hair! i have curling tongs but it didn't last long enough last time and i don't have rollers so was thinking about doing the 'rag' method. how do i do this successfully? and have lovely curls thanks

Do you have thin GHD style super hot straightners?

MarsLady · 25/11/2005 17:47

so a bit late to do the whole eating your greens thing then? lol

My mum used to tell that all the time!

JonesTheSteam · 25/11/2005 17:47

tear up old tea towels or sheets into strips a bit longer than your hair

take a narrow section of hair and twist it and the rag together and then knot
continue until all is done
leave in overnight or all day

if still not dry blow dry before removing the rags

I just twist mine into sections with my fingers then secure with a little clip or grip until dry. If you do it in different directions it looks more surfy and messed up, or if you do them all the same size and direction it is more glam. If you have a helper it also looks nice if they put it in several small plaits - like a loose ripply effect.

Just seen you are going to do it in the afternoon - you need to allow several hours or overnight for your hair to dry. If you take them out before they are completely dry the curl will not last.

Rags in the hair, overnight. basically take small sections of hair twist and roll, like you would with rollers, then tie. My mum did this all the time when I was little, my hair looked great.
