I'm going to an eighties hen night, and going to an eighties club. I have bought so far ...
A short prom strapless dress
Black lace fingers gloves
I think I'm going to scrunch my hair and wear it with a big bow hair band.

I'm stuck on
Shoes
Handbag
Jacket or other cover up.

Please help me.

for a jacket just get an oversized blazer, new look have some nice viscose ones. ballet flats for shoes and anything for handbag, maybe a clutch

Handbag - white or pink plastic, possibly with bow on, to be danced around

Shoes - ditto

Jacket - white or grey with sleeves scrunched up

Don't forget legwarmers to go with the ballet shoes!

Ballet shoes? Really. I have loads of ballet shoes! I thought I'd have to wear heels!

Am I getting it right with a prom dress?

Prom dress will be fine. You could always add a pair of Capri length leggings if you wanted. Just think madonna in desperately seeking Susan that's what I did for an 80s theme party I went to recently

If you get a jacket you must roll up the sleeves to approximately elbow length.

Can't find a picture of her exactly but if you google images of madonna 80s prom dress it comes up with a fancy dress outfit that is exactly what mean. Would do link but on phone and not sure how!

I don't recall ballet pumps being fashionable in the 80s. Pixie boots, slingback peeptoe wedges, kitten heel shoes with bows on, Jelly shoes, gladiator sandals.

Jacket, coloured cotton bomber or blouson jacket, preferably with airtex inserts around the lapels.
