I know its a fashion crime, but...

I need some wellie boots! The weather is going to get terrible, and I'm not going to ruin my nice boots, and I don't wear trainers because I think they make me look slobby. So, where can I buy some decent wellies? Preferably ones that I won't mind wearing over jeans, I'm not a fan of wet trouser legs either. Or, given the extent of the crime I'm about to commit, what should I wear on my feet when the weather starts to get REALLY bad?

not actually sure it's that much of a crime. Have a feeling they're quite trendy at the moment. If you feel like going the whole hog get some pink flowery ones from Boden

Jackstini · 24/11/2005 20:29

LL - you can get all kinds of design wellies now - even Asda & Tesco stock some.
Unless you live in country where only green ones are allowed!

tassis · 24/11/2005 20:31

i'm a walking boots girl when it's snowy

but I do fancy flowery wellies...

expatinscotland · 24/11/2005 20:31

I have some Hunter's ones that are anything but a fashion crime, hon! They're a classic deep green.

mazzystar · 24/11/2005 20:31

its no crime

wellies are vg

i was given fab Orla Kiely ones for my birthday (were £££ though but v pleased}

but toast, boden and topshop also do nice pretty patterned ones

NotQuiteCockney · 24/11/2005 20:43

Bit OT: does anyone make nice patterned wellies in men's sizes? I'm a 9, and all the nice wellies seem to end at 7 or 8.

I wouldn't mind if it was a butch pattern for boys, I'd just like some cute wellies ...

frannyandzooey · 24/11/2005 20:55

Yes plain green looks cool. The patterned ones are a bit over, aren't they? (only just realised they were 'in', which is usually about when the trend has passed..)

in the Guardian [G2] today there was a little section on wellies...even lace up the front ones!
take your pick

littlelamb · 25/11/2005 20:47

I saw some lovely brown ones in Topshop today, with three buckles at the back, which made them just look like a really nice pair of boots. But as usual all the assistants were stood around looking pretty, none of them would actually SERVE me! I went in three seperate times too So the hunt continues

I'd look a raight twat in wellies. Why can I never ever carry off any kind of fashion?

dazedandconfusedmum · 27/11/2005 07:55

Buy a pair of Timberland or CAT boots. They are waterproof and never really go out of fashion. They look good with combats or jeans and you can even get away with wearing them with loose fitting joggers. They are a godsend on my school run!!

jinglinggoblin · 27/11/2005 08:21

i live in doc martens or black wellies with white polka dots and pink trim which were £15 from the local market. a woman came up to me in town last week and asked where she could get them cos she thought they were so nice.

northerner · 27/11/2005 08:24

I wear Timberlands, but saw some funky wellies is ASDA yesterday. Might buy some, just so I can splash in the puddles with ds!
