Wow, it's gorgeous, I love it!

allhailtheaubergine · 05/07/2011 16:28

Nice.

Do you have good upper arms?

TrillianAstra · 05/07/2011 16:29

My arms are ok - I'm only late 20s so I hope they are anyway!

DoraJarr · 05/07/2011 16:30

dont like flarey ones

noddyholder · 05/07/2011 16:31

I like it but would look terrible on me!

MollysChamber · 05/07/2011 16:34

Oh that's very nice.

I fear at 35 I am too old for such frocks.

Are your legs good?

You need to leggy or tiny to carry it off I think.

MollysChamber · 05/07/2011 16:34

to be

TrillianAstra · 05/07/2011 16:38

5'7, not amazing legs but I would obviously wear heels.

ViolaTricolor · 05/07/2011 16:38

It's lovely in theory, though I'd be afraid that, in practice, that degree of sticky-outiness at that length might not be flattering. Plus it's very polyester rich.

TrillianAstra · 05/07/2011 16:39

How long do you think it is? I can see it's above the knee on the mannequin but it doesn't say how tall she is.

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 05/07/2011 16:39

I think I'd want it to be almost knee-length...

OP posts:
MollysChamber · 05/07/2011 16:42

It looks a bit short in that case. You could order it anyway and see.

ViolaTricolor · 05/07/2011 16:43

Yes, I think that almost knee-length would be great. My concern is rooted in the fact that it's well above the mannequin's knees, but I doubt she is an averagely proportioned woman! It's annoying that they don't state the measurements. By my reckoning the skirt is about one-and-a-half times the length from collarbone to waist, which might be enough.

TrillianAstra · 05/07/2011 16:44

ASOS always tell you "this model is 5'10 and wears a size 8" so you can guess how long it would be on your not-5'10-self

Harrumph.

How would slim hips make a difference if the dress is sticky-outy? You wouldn't see whether hips were slim or not, would you/

I have this dress in black, I am 5'5 and it comes above the knee. It does flare out quite a bit so I do think that it would probably look better on someone not too wide at the hips. I have a belly which I need to hold in a bit so I don't look pregnant (but then I have that problem with everything I wear). It is a nice dress although it would be nicer in a better quality fabric.

TillyIpswitch · 06/07/2011 01:07

It's nice but would, I think, look ridiculous on me at 37 5"9'.

thumbwitch · 06/07/2011 01:13

Wouldn't suit me in any way but it's nice enough if you have the right figure for it. I.e. you need a waist. Which I don't have. And a long neck to cope with that slash neckline feature. Which I also don't have.

sue52 · 06/07/2011 09:12

It's lovely. What is this nonsense about too old to wear it at 35? I would consider it and I'm 59.

TrillianAstra · 06/07/2011 09:17

If it's above the knee at 5'5 I think it'd be shorter than I want it then. Shame. Thanks for the info :)
