Got to get my legs out....

After many, many moons living in trousers, I have bought a knee-length frock for an impending wedding. So I have 9 days in which to get my pins in a fit state for viewing. Pedicure is booked so the feet will be OK. I'm thinking I need exfoliation, moisturisation, fake tan at a minimum. Anyone have recommendations for fast working products? Preferably available on the high street - 2 under-twos at home so specialist shopping presents a bit of a problem - shopping for the frock was difficult enough.

Hi, deffo exfoliate, and exfoliator will do but for scrummy smells try loreals exfotonic, its green and gooey and on offer in asda at the mo, but smells fab! then try ambre soliaire spray tan it costs around £5 0r £6 but in my experience has yet to streak.

I spray it on first then apply moisturiser usually palmers cocoa butter as it adds a little sheen aswell, then blend it all in (was given that top tip by my friend at beauty college and it really does work without streaking your tan! x

Don't feel you have to use the kind of fake tan that "stains" the skin by reacting to it (you know the sort that smells of curry and sometimes looks like you painted sweet n sour sauce on your still obviously white legs)

If you really are lilly white and new to this thing, you will feel more self concious if the fake tan is anything other than flawless and perfect.

Seriously consider a product like Air stocking which is essentially a spray "makeup" for legs but the deluxe version of things like Sally Hansen Airbrush legs etc etc. Particularly if its a one-off - just for a special occasion - you can apply it on the day and wash it off that night. It gives a bit of "coverage" that fake tan doesn't necessarily give so if you have any broken veins, bruises or scars it will give more coverage but it looks great if you get the right colour.

Loreal fake spray tan in light - use it every other day, it does not streak ever and looks natural.
Or one of the leg make up products Tatty recommended. I use the Rimmel wash off tan in medium which is also good.

Vix, tell me more about applying your fake tan. You spray it all over your legs and then moisturise all over your legs straight away afterwards? Does this not make the streaks even worse?

I want to use a fake tan next month and have never done it before so am very nervous of streaks etc.

Thanks for all the advice. Am intrigued by the air stocking product Tatty so will look into that - have one or two small scars, but also I'm sure I'll manage to be sporting some attractive bruises by then after having banged myself on the pushchair a few times. Also have an Asda nearby so I'll get some some of that exfotonic Vix thank you. That slow build-up of fake tan every other day could work for me Mumelie. My knees are a bit dingy looking but am hoping a good amount of exfoliation will brighten them up a bit

I must admit I went to the salon and had a spray on my legs £15 and tgey airbrush it on. The one where it uses your natural pigments. Looked natural and great and faded nicely. Due for the summer one next week, last 8 weeks or so. I have such pasty legs and if I do it myself always mamage to bodge it.

Cheap exfoliator sea salt and olive oil, the sea salt exfoliates and tge olive oil moisturises. If you have a hairbrush with sift bristles, brush your legs to encourage blood flow everyday before hand, helps firm up amd reduce cellulite, even for short spells.

Before pedicure soak your feet before hand to soften tge skin. I often do this and use the seasalt/ olive oil exfoliator.

I am very pale and can never find a fake tan that looks right on me. I have discovered Mac Face and Body Foundation. Love it. I'm not tanned but I have perfect skin which looks much better than streaky orange.

Forget the fake tan, too risky. Oleo Bodycare Black Spruce & Galbanum Body Scrub is a fantastic exfoliator. Follow it up with their Luscious Body Lotion. Only on line though, www.oleobodycare.co.uk

Thanks all - mincey those products look good, although not sure they would arrive in time to get much use, but I think I will indulge for the future. Thanks verity for the Mac recommendation as well - I will look out for it. I'm not pale, but will likely bugger up the fake tan so make-up will cover any bodge job
