Fit Flops have killed my toes

So I know putting this in S and B is a some what debatable decision BUT bought myself a pair of Fit Flops this week after struggling with dodgy knee joints and Birkenstock cloven hoof syndrome. Got the sequinny ones in bronze, in a 7 when I am really a 6 1/2 but due to my stupid high arches 6s were a bit snug. After 30 minutes of wear from shop back to car my toes have been cut to shreds on the toe post and I am now Sad So should I try to return them to the shop (department store bluddy miles away that I rarely go to) or complain to Fit Flops themselves? Is it most likely because they are a bit too big? Stupidly I wore them outside but they aren't marked and I have kept the receipt and tags. So gutted - really need some comfy and not entirely minging shoes and had to steel myself to spend that much. Boo hoo...

They are the Electra bronze sequin ones. Thanks so much for all the advice. I'm still torn (as are my tootsies) about whether to take them back or persevere.

The pros for taking them back are:
the bluddy things cost £45
the amount of bleeding and now grim scabs on my toes was unprecedented since my 1980's Saxone stillettoes injuries
I'm worried I will never break them in without my toes falling off
Maybe they are too big

The cons against taking them back are:
I like them
I've wanted some for ages
I haven't had any new shoes so far this year
My Birkies are on their last legs
My knees are really clapped out and they did feel like they'd help joint pain (possibly by causing distracting toe pain instead)
The department store where I bought them is in a town a fair schlep away and maybe they won't even let me return them as I've worn them outside albeit briefly

Dear God I'm so indecisive I annoy myself Blush

rub them down and keep them

OK, you are going to think I am strange, but could you wear them round the house with socks on (just push the bit between your toes!) until they soften up and give a bit? Mine are so comfy and have never rubbed, but I've done this with other flip flops that have rubbed to wear them in and had great success!! Just make sure you don't forget you've got them on and answer the door like that!! It does look quite odd! Grin

Ok decided - rubbing down, socks around house, short periods of wear with Vaseline liberally applied, then, maybe in a year or so, I'll wear them out with pride!

Thanks ladies - brilliant advice from all of you. It will be worth it in the end....
