This Boden bag www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Accessories/Bags/AM137-LBR/Womens-Tan-Slouchy-Buckle-Bag.html in tan.

Johnnie is tempting me with his latest offer (20% off accessories) plus I can use my £25 off £100 spend brings the bag down to £94.20. Do you think it will be any cheaper in the sale?

winefairy thanks for the warning about the Lucia tan colour. How strange!

The camel sounds a better bet, so long as it's not too pale to be used all year round.

NewChoos · 15/06/2011 09:53

Rassy we seem to be lusting after the same bags!! I have just ordered this in graphite and used my £25 off code, which meant it was £94 - a pure bargain!!!

winefairy · 15/06/2011 09:54

Okay people. Don't say I'm not good to you. I have filled my beautiful bag with tins and walked round the room. It was heavy but it was still comfy. As much as a handbag full of tins can be.

It is big but the size mainly comes from the fact it's taller than most bags and the extra height sits under your arm so isn't as blatant as in the Boden photos. Mine isn't as wide at the top as I adjusted it to slouch more too.

kitkatya Love the Whistles bag too. But I am a fan of this Boden one. The buckles on mine are a nice touch and it looks 'classy' (not my favourite word but needs must).

Trills · 15/06/2011 10:05

Thanks for the test-drive! :o

If it's comfy when full of tins then it must be good!

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 10:12

winefairy sorry, another question on the Boden bag.

When you put it down on floor or chair (with normal contents, not full of tins) does it slump, IYSWIM? I'm not too keen on that, though have other bags that do. madamecholet has always said that one of the many virtues of the Lucia is that it doesn't 'slump'.

winefairy · 15/06/2011 10:27

polyhymnia I know, I was so disappointed with the tan Lucia. Even the grain was different- far more smooth which gave it it's plasticky appearance. And the shade is just flat. Mr Winefairy couldn't believe it was even leather. It may have just been mine but I'd be wary.

The camel was just as it looks in the photos and is gorgeous. Peony and Moore introduced the colour in the winter so I'm guessing it's acceptable all year round. I'd certainly rather carry it than the tan.

I'm keeping the camel Lucia and the tan Boden and I'm very pleased with both. Smile

winefairy · 15/06/2011 10:28

You're welcome trills. Grin

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 10:31

winefairy Thanks, camel sounds much better bet. Am interested in Boden one too - does it 'slumlp' when put down? At all, or compared to Lucia?

So glad you're enjoying your L and L scarf.

franke · 15/06/2011 10:35

Here's another big bargainous bag that I bought recently. Like the Boden one too though.

winefairy · 15/06/2011 10:38

polyhymnia Yes, the Boden does slump. Quite badly. But it suits it's slump very much! Johnnie got it right when he called it the Slouchy Buckle Bag. You have to embrace the slump with this one, I'm afraid. Grin

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 10:41

Yes, I guess that was a silly question when the bag is actually called 'slouchy'! Lucia looks more structured than that, though not too structured.

winefairy · 15/06/2011 10:45

The Amelie! I almost knew it would be before I clicked. It's lovely. I considered it too but the colours didn't work for me as much. I believe it did come in a tan colour too but it was another odd brown shade. Then folks started to complain about the leather and I couldn't face another disappointment! Absolute bargain though. Glad you like it.

winefairy · 15/06/2011 10:53

The Lucia is still soft but with far more form so rather than slump it just relaxes very slightly when you put it down! It just breathes out a little. Get me.....I seem to be taking this slump thing very, very seriously. Grin I sound like the Jilly Goolden of bag slumpage.

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 11:10

Sounds good to me. Though don't like too much slump, have never seen myself as a person who likes very structured bags either. But, having got the small version of the Modalu Pippa in Shark recently, must admit that I'm actually liking the way it's more structured than my current 'everyday' bag which is a Comptoir des Cotonniers satchel- type style - lovely but very slouchy when not carried.

BTW, I see Modalu are launching some more colours in the big Pippa - Oak and Black, both with a croc-type finish. Look rather tempting.

Only thing I don't like about the Pippa is I find the metalware a bit 'gold' (not as 'gold' and prominent as on most Mulberries, though). I think it's more noticeable on the small version, for obvious reason that there is less leather surrounding it than with the large version.

winefairy · 15/06/2011 12:58

Ohhhh...nice choices of bag! I'm not a fan of cheap looking metalware either. Drives me to distraction.

I considered the Annina (LK Bennett) but felt the tan colour was again not quite right.

Considered this until realised it was real python and felt a bit icky about it. (Don't know why cows are fair game though!).

And was browsing the Whistles sale last night (thanks, kitkatya) and saw a nice grey satchel reduced from £130 to £80. Still pondering about that one. Could do with a grey bag.

What L and L scarves do you have, polyhymnia

Sorry for hijack, Rassy Blush. Have you ordered the Boden bag yet?

partyhats · 15/06/2011 13:19

The boden bag is lovely, first thing in the adult section that I have ever liked, shall be keeping an eye out for it in the sale, I love a slouchy bag.

Rassy · 15/06/2011 13:54

winefairy Yes, have been very bad and ordered bag...! Grin

Gingefringe · 15/06/2011 14:01

OMG another thing that MN is telling me I must buy. The reviews on the Boden website are brilliant for this bag. Tan and pewter both look fabulous - what a decision.

At this rate, there won't be any left in the sale!!

winefairy · 15/06/2011 14:28

Rassy I call that being very good! Wink

And I hadn't even read the reviews! They are excellent aren't they? I fear there may not be any left come sale time though. Everyone seems poised to buy a second! I feel I should be shouting "Buy, buy" like some crazed stockbroker to all those mulling it over! Grin

Rassy · 15/06/2011 14:40

Winefairy I know what you mean re the fear none will be left! This pre sale time is the period where you see if you have the nerve to hold out and not buy a favoured item! Am waiting for despatch email....!

wendihouse22 · 15/06/2011 15:34

Oh Lordy.....dh will leave me if I buy another bag!

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 15:45

Right, going to try this Boden one (DH used to the spotty plastic parcels arriving by now, I hope!)

Vote/ advise, please - should I go for tan or silver (which sounds a nice 'dull' pewter)???

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 15:50

PS winefairy I too liked that Whistles grey satchel, though got the Modalu as my grey bag in end. Note you say it's now been reduced - as indeed has my Comptoir des C bag! wish I'd held my nerve on that one now, though have enjoyed using it for last 3 months. As for Boden, though, I know that things can go very fast when there's a 'feeding frenzy'.

My L and L scarves are a pale camel coloued cheetah and a blue leopard - not as artistic as yours, but nice.

As a fellow-admirer of the Annina, funnily enough I do like the tan option in that - though am also trying to see in RL the grey snake.

Winetimeisfinetime · 15/06/2011 15:55

Polyhymnia, I also have the Pippa in Shark, but the larger one. I think it would have looked better with silver hardware but at least the gold isn't too yellow. I do love the organisation of all the pockets though - the central compartment is ideal for a Kindle and do like the shell motifs on the zip pulls.

Modalu are milking the Royal connection for all they're worth aren't they - I notice that as well as the new colours ( chilli red too now ) that they have put up the price by £20.

polyhymnia · 15/06/2011 15:56

PPS re Boden bag - actually, reading the reviews, the graphite sounds of interest too - a dark blue grey ...
