Any experts in men's style?

DH is tall, and relatively rounded (apple). He works in a bank. He needs another suit. He's a pretty conservative chap.

We normally go for double-breasted, with or without vents. But is double-breasted realy the best style for his shape?

And does anyone have any favourite suit shops? We're not up for completely bespoke suits, too expensive. He has a Jaeger suit that we like, maybe we'll go there again? (Austin Reed isn't bad.)

I hate double breasted suits, personally. Very dated, for the 50 something fuddy-duddy board member, IMO.

Has DH tried on different styles ?

NotQuiteCockney · 18/11/2005 10:34

They are dated (ok, must admit, I do like them) but I think they suit his shape. Maybe a jacket that buttoned up more would work, too?

Now I'm thinking Nehru, but that's far too interesting for him and his work.

paul smith

very good and the London range is cheaper

NotQuiteCockney · 18/11/2005 12:46

I think I've been in Paul Smith ... but don't they stop fairly small? I don't know DH's chest measurement, but he's 6'4", and a collar of 17". And not slim. I bought him a lovely Boateng shirt, which is the right collar size, but doesn't fit around the middle.

I do like Paul Smith, though.

Does Liberty do men's suits?

dh has very broad chest but not massively tall and paul smith looks great on him

liberty do a range of mens suits

dh would say selfridges is the place to go

NotQuiteCockney · 18/11/2005 12:49

I always hate Selfridges, but that's probably because it's massive, and the women's lines don't do fat ladies like me (16 now, was 18 for years).

But that's worth a try, we can try a range of folks with less hassle.

I think, last time around, I looked in the Time Out guide, and went to all sorts of interesting little shops, only none of them went as big as DH. Very annoying and frustrating.

Ah, found a jacket. He's a 48L.
