Nice laptop bag - is there such a thing?

Er, that's it.

Is there such a thing as a laptop bag that is comfy to carry and looks nice?

I have to pretend to be a sophisticated grownup businessperson, you see.

So I'll have a laptop.

And I'll need to carry it around.

Preferably in something that is not made of the black woven plasticy stuff.

Knomo ones are lovely. Or mulberry do a fab one if you are v rich Grin

faustina · 13/06/2011 13:34

ally capellino, paul smith, built new york. What's your budget and how big is your laptop?

florenceuk · 13/06/2011 13:38

I have a fairly neutral nylon one from Muji.

Trills · 13/06/2011 13:40

Laptop will be a 13 inch one, so in theory nice and portable.

Budget is, er, not Mulberry. I don't know how much I want to spend until I see how much these things cost, I have no frame of reference. Obviously I'd love to find a perfect lovely bag for £30 and then go and drink a lot of nice wine with the rest of the money that I might have spent, but that doesn't seem very likely. :)

try searching for ladies laptop bag on amazon, some nice looking but cheap ones there!

roary · 13/06/2011 13:44
  1. Get a bag you love that will hold your laptop.
  2. Get one of these laptop sleeves to put in your bag. here
Trills · 13/06/2011 13:49

I was considering that roary, but if there is a bag out there that is nice and had a built-in bit for my laptop to go in that would be lovely...

Penelope and Parker do nice ones....

here, not Mulberry prices but not £30....

roary · 13/06/2011 13:51

Trills they are especially wonderful sleeves. Then you can pop laptop in to ANY bag if you need to swap around....but Mme Cholet is a bit of a bag authority!

WhipMeIndiana · 13/06/2011 13:51

primark surprisingly has a few

Trills · 13/06/2011 13:53

If I do that I know I'll just buy a sleeve and then stick it in an existing handbag and not buy myself a nice new one...

Bag authority Grin....old bag more like...!

roary · 13/06/2011 14:02

seriously, mme, I have seen your temptress ways in action. Get over to a&w and find me a dress! please.

Trills · 13/06/2011 14:09

What do I need to look for then, o great and wise bag authority?

I'm thinking: space for stuff other than laptop, comfy handles.

I quite like this red one. And this black one has lots of compartments inside.

I'm in lust with the roxy...

roxy but its £££

on sale for £299 in brown

bananamonkey · 13/06/2011 14:36

TK Maxx has some lovely ones for under £40 (which I cannot justify because I got given a crappy one from work Envy)

Trills · 13/06/2011 14:41

The Built NY ones all look like they are just for holding your laptop - not for carrying anything else at all, if you see what I mean.

The optional long strap on the Roxy one is nice, but not sure I can spend that much and I don't knwo how I feel about the snakeyness.

Crumpler has got awersome ones!

Trills · 13/06/2011 15:32

Crumpler does look like a cool place to be, this one is nice but I was imagining a more handbaggy sort of bag.

TK Maxx, I have got a Betty Barclay one in black faux leather. I noticed they have some nicer looking leather ones around the £50 mark though at the moment. The one I have is a lot slimmer and lighter than the sort of bag the IT department give you with your laptop.

parroty · 14/06/2011 07:43

Couple more here...

black sensible

not so sensible

madammecholet · 14/06/2011 07:57

trills have a look at this site too...

black one

woven black one

I like this one

Trills · 14/06/2011 08:20

I like that last one best of your suggestions too - it's less of the messenger-bag-style look at me I'm a laptop bag. :)
