Smart casual trousers that aren't jeans?

Anyone suggest any shops or brands? Boden have some- ahem- but they are boot leg. or chinos. which I ordered and sent bak as they looked middle aged. i am but don't want to dress it.

I am looking for something smarter than jeans but not so floppy as linen trousers.

Anyone got any ideas?

Office wear type trousers? Very smart but can be dressed down to look casual?

Possibly- but not bootleg or flares. And no polyester- so Next is out.
