Posh Ponytail needed - any experts?

Due to my 6 month olds favourite teething toy/pulling toy & best place to throw up on being my hair I feel like my ponytail is now a permanant feature.
I have got a posh-ish do soon and would really like to get it to look like the celebs manage effortlessly where its quite high up top (probably a clip) have tried a few times but end up looking like an 80's misfit then after 10 minutes it looks the same as usual. Help any fashion guru's/hairdressers?

do u mean the bump thing?
if u do, i take a section of hair from the front at the top....sort of like a fringe amount...clip it out the way while i do my ponytail and then clip it with bobby pins in a small discreet bump. like u i look like an eighties throwback with ahuge one lol!
it does take a little practice but its a nice easy one to do when u know how that is!
