Got an Avon magazine and just wondered what their wonder products were? I've never used them before.

OP posts:
HazeltheMcWitch · 08/06/2011 20:37

The Skin So Soft range which really does seem to prevent midgey attack!

piellabakewell · 08/06/2011 20:51

The Anew anti-ageing stuff is great, I'm an Avon rep and I sell more of that than anything else. I use it myself too.

OddBoots · 08/06/2011 20:53

I like the Face Perfector, works great as a base with or without foundation.

APieOfButter · 08/06/2011 21:01

I love the huge bottles of bubble bath. Old fashioned fragrances like Lavender and Rose, huge and cheap and bubbly. Also the kids detangling spray, the room and linen spray (put it on your bed clothes and when you go to bed it is brill!). Ooh, and the eyeliner - is it called glimmerstick? Anyway, it's like a soft crayon and you just twist it up to get more out. I was a teenage goth and have never found a better eyeliner.

Blush I'm quite an Avon fan.

I don't think much of the perfumes though - they tend to smell a bit cheap, and if I'm using a cheap perfume, I prefer to go for a teenage one (like so..?) rather than one that is trying to smell expensive, iyswim.

Ooh, I have a little cream from Avon that basically gives you a mild allergic reaction on your lips. sounds odd, but its great :)

AvonChris · 28/07/2011 00:14

Think that sounds like the lip volumiser; irritates your lips slightly to plump them up. They also have 'pout' lipglosses that have the same effect.

For me, it's their toning flip flops; brilliant, I hardly ever wear anything else. (They go in the washing m/c too.)

My latest two fave finds are the Planet Spa Dead Sea Minerals range - great for anyone with mild skin allergies/psoriasis/eczema etc. and new in C13 is the Mineral Fix nail varnish/base coat. Very similar to Sally Hanson Hard as Nails - brilliant for anyone wanting to protect/help strengthen their nails.

catswipe · 28/07/2011 08:34

Their lipsticks are great as are their glimmerstick eyeliners. I use majestic plum as it's softer than all out black but dark enough to give definition.

EdithWeston · 28/07/2011 08:37

yy to the children's hair detangler.

And I think the nail varnish is very good (colour, coverage and staying power, and price).

The glycerin hand cream is brilliant.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 09/12/2011 20:48

Glimmersticks are fantastic.

yogabonkers · 09/12/2011 20:55

lipsticks are great, esp when on special offer.

quick touch leave in conditioner is brilliant.

"The Skin So Soft range which really does seem to prevent midgey attack!"

It didn't work for me in Italy this year - and I'm not even that attractive to mosquitos!

YouOldSlag · 10/12/2011 22:09

I don't like their mascaras but their Bubble Bath is fabulous, as is their costume jewellery, sun lotion for kids, and foot products. The costume jewellery looks more expensive than it is and they make great Xmas presents, especially the gift sets (earrings and matching necklaces and so on)

I agree with a previous poster about their perfumes. They used to have some fabulous fragrances such as Odyseey and Eau Givree, but they all smell the same now, with more or less the same base note.

I even wrote to them and asked if they could bring some old ones back, but it was a firm no. The only perfumes worth buying are the big name ones exclusive to Avon like Ungaro, and Christian la Croix for example.

JambalayaWarmMincePie · 10/12/2011 22:12

They do a freeze dry nail polish spray thing that I love!

purpleknittingmum · 10/12/2011 22:13

I used to do Avon, I still get some bits occasionally. I like Pur Blanca and there is another one in that range, I often get the perfumes actually

Tried the matt nail polish the other week and found it came off more or less within 12 hours!

YouOldSlag · 10/12/2011 22:15

purple- you're right, I like Pur Blanca too. It's like a warm floral musk on me.

feedthegoatsletthemknowitsxmas · 10/12/2011 22:16

I'm another glimmerstick fan. To be honest the amount of eyeliner I buy from my avon rep just embarrasses me. She must wonder what the hell I need so many for but I like choices!

purpleknittingmum · 10/12/2011 22:20

I have Outspoken one of the Fergie ones and Celebre. I have just finished a Pur Blanca one but it was in a peach coloured bottle, can't remember what it was called

purpleknittingmum · 10/12/2011 22:20

I used to bloody hate delivering the massive bottles of bubble bath, they weight a ton!!

LottieJenkins · 10/12/2011 22:25

The Tresselle Perfumes are great!!!

Bunbaker · 11/12/2011 12:00

I like the Christian Lacroix Rouge perfume they sell.

shoeprincess2 · 11/12/2011 16:06

I have just bought their gel eyeliner (in a little glass pot- this it is called super shock or something) and a tapered brush to apply. I bought the sparkly black colour and it is absolutely fantastic!! Really defines my eyes and the small amount of glitter makes it perfect for this time of year
