I use a little squeezy tube from boots. No idea of the brand, but it smells lovely (mint and olive oil) and works a treat. Was only about £3

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 14:47

I use Carmex. Can't get it in a stick here, so I have it sent over from the States.

I don't like ones in a pot anymore. Glosses, ok, but not balms.

motheroftwoboys · 16/11/2005 17:14

Carmex is brill but mine is constantly stolen by DS1 - 15. Gave him a half empty tube of Blisteze last night but he was not convinced. guess this year's christmas stockings will include Carmex.

starlover · 16/11/2005 17:18

i use carmex too! or chapstick

Bagpuss30 · 16/11/2005 17:18

I like benetint lip balm from benefit. It gives a bit of colour and is good under lipstick as well as on its own. Makes lips very comforatble. Also can't beat carmex for sorting out full on chapped lips too.

Pruni, my kind of gal. I like Eve Lom lip balm, but alternate it with Blisteze for reasons of economy. I also have a ridiculously expensive pot of rosebud (?) lip balm from Urban Outfitters which is heavenly. I think it's an old-fashioned American make.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 20:44

You have something that is called 'Rosebud Lip Salve', tamum. LOVELY stuff. Comes in an old fashioned looking tin.

I used to use it.

MUCH better than Kiehl's No. 1. Anyone else find it to be over-rated.

Gawd I LOVE makeup and beauty products.

Bagpuss, do you find the Benetint lip balm worth the dosh? I used to use the cheek tint, but it dries too quickly to blend well, IME.

I hvae been addicted to lipbalm for near 20 years but during my last pregnancy suddenly reaslied I'd stopped needing it.

I'm now lip-balm FREE and can leave the house without a panic attack just because I've forgotten to bring one with me !!!!!!!!!

LadyTophamHatt · 16/11/2005 20:53

Carmex for me too.

Expat, I've seen the carmex sticks here, I'm sure you can get them.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 20:53

You can order it here, Pruni:

Smith's Rosebud Salve

I LOVE the way it smells! Mmmm.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 20:54

Ooo, I want Carmex sticks!! Where'd you see 'em, LTH?

Frenchgirl · 16/11/2005 20:56

this year I have Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm (in a pot) and it's brilliant. Nice taste, very effective, makes your lips nice and soft with lovely sheen, mmmmmm I love it. Can be found at John Lewis and probably Space NK as well.

LadyTophamHatt · 16/11/2005 20:56

In my local boots.
I'm in wallington, surrey.

I'll look next time, do you want me to send you a few if they have them?

tamum · 16/11/2005 20:56

That's the one, expat. Fab, isn't it? Yes Pruni, you're in the clear, I bought it at UO in London (Oxford St). It was about £9 I think. Gorgeous smell. Completely agree about Kiehl's BTW, very over-rated and startlingly similar to vaseline I thought.

LilacBump · 16/11/2005 20:58

i use cocoa lipbalm from body shop. it tastes of chocolate. mmm.
my FIL uses a liquorice one! it cost him about £15 online.

expatinscotland · 16/11/2005 21:02

Thanks, LTH. I'll have a better look round here and let ya know. It's in a squeeze tube as well. Really nice for cold, windy weather like we're getting now.

I forgot about Smith's Rosebud. The light smell was gorgeous.

I'm also fond of Burt's Beeswax, altho my alltime fav Burt's product has to be the buttermilk bath. Bliss!
