What kind of bag to go with a maxi dress for evenings?

have plenty of large bags for during the day but these are too big for nights out, small across the body bags don't hang right across my chest.

I have an evening wedding reception coming up and plan on wearing the dresses in the evenings on holiday too.

For those interested they are the geri haliwell for next ones, i'm a size 14 and feel fabulous in them, i suppose they aren't that maxi no excess fabric on the tummy areas, others i've tried had me in stitches.

Accessorise have lots of cheap but cute ones. Might be worth splashing out on a swanky one though, as you will always use a clutch bag for years for that special occasion

Agree - - a handheld clutch - but what is the dress like? - plain or patterned?
a good little clutch bag is worth paying a bit more for as you will keep it for years and it won't date -- also what's the budget??

Oversized clutch. Very on trend. Floral if your maxi dress isn't patterned or a rafffatia if it is :)
