Anyone got any ideas where can I find a stylish one without costing a small fortune?

TK Maxx is a winner for coats. Got mine, DS and DD's school coats and DH got a great gilet-whatnot-thingy (technical term for body-warmer). Kids ones 15 and 10 quid. Mine £25. Great for the school run, not the most classy of looks but warrrrrm.

merlin, principles have 30% off all coats now - get yourself down to Castlepoint.

Merlin · 15/11/2005 20:39

really bunny - will take a look later in the week perhaps. Bet there all a bit glam though for school! Got to be something to match my Asda carrier bag

I have just ordered this one for DD2 from Tchibo - she's at uni in Manchester so she really needs warm and waterproof! Feather and down, £30. Is it stylish though...???

Merlin · 15/11/2005 20:57

that looks good janh, but doesn't say it's waterproof.

pmsl merlin - just think what they'll say at the school gates when you swan in with a principles bag????

Janh · 15/11/2005 21:01

Damn, you're right Merlin, it doesn't! It says "chilly damp days" but that's not the same, is it - they also have a down parka here which does say water-repellent (Teflon treatment) and I didn't read the details of the black one carefully enough.

I wonder if you can buy Teflon water-repellent spray and do it yourself? You can get spray for suede shoes, can't you?

Merlin · 15/11/2005 21:04

bunny - they will think I;ve got up in the world and wont talk to me anymore!

sorry janh for pointing that out! Not sure about the teflon spray - sounds a good idea in principle

Never mind, I'll just cut some armholes in a bin liner and she can wear that over the top

Merlin · 15/11/2005 21:06

Now that would be stylish!
