GORGEOUS!!! I want one! Any special occassion?

Olivetti · 31/05/2011 12:18

Lovely. Very sophisticated.

coffeenut · 31/05/2011 12:23

Thanks. It's for an engagement party. I'm a bit worried the shoulders will date it in 12 months time. What do you think?

Looks better suited to a funeral than engagement party to me. Too formal.

use fun accessories for engagement party....you could wear that to a million potential occassions! :)

ggirl · 31/05/2011 12:40

dull

iWILLdothis · 31/05/2011 12:45

how about the grey one instead?

BulletWithAName · 31/05/2011 12:54

It's really boring and overpriced for what it is. Sorry!

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 31/05/2011 16:12

Not fond - very severe looking and a funny length. I think you could get something much better. How old are you? It looks quite 'middle aged' (says the 41 year old!).

alizee · 31/05/2011 23:43

i find it more appropriate for a/w tbh - being wool and long sleeved. it also seems quite see-through and expensive for what it is.

Cafefrappe · 31/05/2011 23:47

It's a bit nanny McPhee - sorry x

Gerrof · 31/05/2011 23:50

I think it is very meh. I don't think I would wear a wool dress to a party tbh. Would be something I would wear to work.

ninah · 31/05/2011 23:52

I really like it, but agree it's quite a sober dress

WhatsWrongWithYou · 01/06/2011 00:08

I saw it and thought 'hmm, okay if you work in a very formal environment.' Not what I'd wear to a party.

coffeenut · 01/06/2011 10:44

Thanks for the feedback.

The quality and cut are quite nice, I don't think it is over-priced.

I should have said that it is winter where I live. i wouldn't wear it to a summer or spring party.

It wouldn't be formal enough for work (I work in a corporate environment). But looks like the verdict is that it isn't "partyish" enough.

I do need something long sleeved and elegant though. will keep searching.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 01/06/2011 11:55

Something like this maybe?
I would have said look at Vivienne Westwood or All Saints but their stuff all seems to be short-sleeved atm.

coffeenut · 04/06/2011 03:39

WWWY i love that Isabella oliver dress, thank you!! I actually love the ruched one too - might be a bit dresser for a party, what do you think? I wonder how long it is though. Wish they had it on the blue too.

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 04/06/2011 09:39

They are lovely, aren't they? I don't have either myself, but I'm sure some posters on the 'avid & wise' threads are fans.

They're really amenable and helpful, so you could maybe swoop in and ask?

FaffTastic · 04/06/2011 18:35

Lovely dress but definitely not 'engagement party-ish' IMO. What would you intend on wearing with it?

smearedinfood · 04/06/2011 21:51

it's a bit boring sorry

coffeenut · 05/06/2011 03:37

the isabella oliver one is boring/not engagement party or the original one?

OP posts:
TheMostBeautifulPoster · 05/06/2011 05:07

Both are like work dresses. The black one in particular
I hate isabella thingy. So du

coffeenut · 05/06/2011 05:12
