What to do with next day hair?

I recently had my very straight and pretty fine hair cut into a graduated bob. It looks fine when I have blow dried it, especially if I have used something to give it volume (I've got an Aveda liquid gel type thing), but the day after it always looks a bit shit, and a bit greasy if I have put some stuff in it. Or sometimes I wash it but don't get to dry it and style it straight away. I use straighteners to curl it under but it still looks a bit crap.

What can I oomph it up with without having to wash it again?

I have the same hair and tbh I wash it every day, doesn't take long to do every day but I appreciate not everyone wants to wash their hair every day.

I do used the dry shampoo but it doesn't seem to do the trick.

I have the same problem. I re blow dry the crown. I dont wet it i just go over it. Sometimes with a hairdryer and sometimes with babyliss big hair. Or you could bung a few rollers in it.

I have a short graduated bob too - just as high maintenance as long hair really.
I either wash daily or use dry shampoo and blow dry
Alternatively I clip the front section to the side with a pretty clip or wear a hair band which seems to detract from the fact it is not freshly washed!!

Thanks for the replies. It's the flatness which is the big problem. Short hair is far more high maintenance than long hair. When it's long I can literally wash and go as it is so straight, but it looks rubbish when it is short unless I do it properly.

OP if only I had your problem. I have the opposite problem (wavy, often frizzy( - usually wake up looking like Worzel Gummidge.

I have the same kind of style, with a side fringe, and the same problem the next day, although my hair is thick but it just seems to flatten to my head overnight! I know you said you've used dry shampoo and it didn't work, but have you tried the Schwarzkopf one? I think it's called Dare 2B or something and is in a silver tin. I can't bear the Batiste one, it does nothing for my hair apart from make me look like an old lady (I have dark hair) but this one is great.

All I do is tip my head upside down and spray it on the roots at the back then rub in, stand back up and spray the dry shampoo onto my brush - this helps me control how much I use and stop the grey roots look! then brush through including fringe, then use straightners on the back and sides and voila, good as new :)

OK stupid question - but why not just wash it every day? I have similar hair and it really does need washing and styling every day.

MrsCampbellBlack, it is partly laziness, but partly that I am at home with a 3 yo and an 8mo, newly crawling, waiting for DH to put the stairgate up. The only practical place to have my hair drier is in my bedroom but DD2 is usually in there napping by the time I get to shower. Also, I worry for the condition of my hair if I blowdry it or straighten it every day.

i have a blow dry spray i use on the roots, if used on dry hair it makes the roots a bit moist, then i blow dry upside down till roots are dry again. i like dry shampoo but i cannot stand the smell of the batiste ones. i still use them but they make me cough :P

Bumper - I do think if you use a conditioner and heat protective spray then your hair will be fine.

But I just can't bear the feeling of limp hair - tis the curse of the fine haired person.

I have v similar hair: fine, straight, bob, goes flat at crown. My solution are 4 large velcro rollers (got mine for about £2 in John Lewis). I put them in on the crown of my head before showering, don't actually get them wet, but obviously it's a bit steamy. Out of the shower I give the rollers a quick blast with the hairdryer and that gives my hair a bit of body. Really easy.

I've just stopped washing every day as it was making my hair too dry and now I wash and blow dry on day 1 and then just rinse in the shower and blow dry on day 2 - my hair is now in much better condition - just a pity the new shampoo has made my scalp react :-( Back to H&S for me - will I never learn?

Wash it. If it's a good cut, can't you leave it to dryo naturally? I do.

I don't think it works like that. No cut can stop my hair being straight and flat.

Oh if only a good cut meant I could leave my hair to dry naturally without looking a complete fright...

I don't think you realise how blessed you are if this works for you.

I use my BBH every day in betwen washes. it is my lifesaver

I have short layered bob. It's poker straight so, I use a bit of serum to smooth it. Zigzag a parting and that is it. I detest hairdryers.

I think it is too short for BBH.

I have the same hair and the only thing that works is to wash it every morning in the shower and blow dry. It only takes 5 minutes though because it's so fine.
