hi,

I've just had a birthday and have some money to spend. I'd love to buy some new make up as I've stuck to no7 for years.

I thought I'd start of with a nice natural eye palette.

Any one recommend a good set here please?

I'd have a look at Bobbi Brown's and Dior's palettes.

I bought a Rimmel eyeshadow doodah the other day - haven't bought their stuff for ages but was surprised by how nice it was. Had like a pinky cream, beigey brown and dark brown for natural / smoky look. Very easy to use the two lighter colours during the day and then whack on a bit more of the darker colour in the evening and it lasts really well.

i was in debenhams last week and looked at the urban decay naked palette it looked very nice lovely colours, i didn't get it because i rarely wear eye makeup but i can't stop thinking about it - i did get a couple of coloured eyeliners for holiday.

Beware of the avon eyeshadows, they are very powdery and drying, and get very messy in the palettes, i had loads returned when i did avon.

I use clinique eyeshadow quad in 'Spicy' on lots of people for bridal work and it always seems to suit everyone and is very pretty.

Gorgeous buttery, soft naturals with good pigment that enhance rather than drain the skin, I really rate that one.

Bobbi Brown, Mac have lovely neutrals. Also Clinique is very good.

Dior 5 shadows- I have Ignonito which has a grey, brown, sand, pink and ivory. Use it daily and it's lasted over a year.

polyhymnia · 30/05/2011 18:47

yes, I have that Dior one too - very good. Also agree Clinique have some excellent neutrals.

chipstick10 · 30/05/2011 19:24

I like Stila. Very pigmented and stays put. Not too shimmery.

mippy · 30/05/2011 19:26

Stila isn't sold over here now, unless you want to try eBay. I find the shadows smash v.easily as well.

AnyoneForPimms · 30/05/2011 21:00

Lots there then. I think I'll take a look in debenhams. X

Yes to Urban Decay - their shadows are brilliant (even better than Mac imho). I really want that Naked set but don't wear eyeshadow enough to justify buying it (I live in either UD sin or Mac shale).

Just been to Debenhams in Southampton and been told they dont stock Urban Decay!!!! Nowhere in Southampton does according to girl behind Clinique counter.
Anyone know where I can by???? Sad
