Night out with mum friends-what to wear?

I am going out next week with my friends from mother and toddlers. A meal and drinks(not a fancy place though). Want to buy something new but not alot of cash to spend(£30 max).
I wont wear jeans on a night out(just doesnt feel right). Prefer dresses to trousers.I already have a couple of maxis dresses but its too bloody cold to wear them! Am a size 14 with norks. Thanks.

Could you wear some leggings under your maxi dress to keep you warmer? Or could you wear tights with a shorter dress? If it has to be a dress then leggings or tights will keep you warm.

I'd shove a short denim jacket on top of maxi dress for warmth

Ha, that's what's been keeping me out of maxi's (the weather) - what a great idea!
I find you can never look over-done as most people see it as a chance to dress up and go out - where-ever it is. Speaking from experience, trying to do casual always looks half-arsed and supermarket shop. Heels are my most essential thing now (not with maxis however).

Yes I have recently bought a new denim jacket but honestly its still so cold here think I would freeze in that!. I like tea dresses. Got a nice one from new look but have worn it to last 3 nights outSad.

Slightly over budget at £40 but have you seen these fab dresses that Pearl Lowe has designed fro Peacocks? here I think they are gorgeous and could all be worn with opaques and heels
