Vintage maternity wear suggestions?

I guess this could've gone here or in pregnancy talk..but it's more about fashion so it's here!

I normally wear 1940-1950's vintage clothing (or handmade, done to old dress patterns), and aside from wearing a wrap dress everyday am struggling to come up with anything else I could buy/make to go with my style whilst pregnant, mainly because clothes back then are quite fitted!

Could anyone help me out with tips/advice/where to buy, or am I doomed to a vintage-less (it's a word!) pregnancy?
Thanks in advance! x

Oh god wasn't vintage maternity all hideous smocks and dungarees?
And before then I think you just mainly stayed 'confined' at home no?

make your own top?

Dropdeadfred · 25/05/2011 16:26

any good?

Dropdeadfred thank you! I'm quite rubbish at the google searching, the designs look simple enough so I'll just have to pad out my dummy to match my bump!!

Carole Most of the patterns I've seen so far ARE the hideous smocks, but according to my Nan (who was pregnant in the 50's!) she had some pretty decent stuff made for her to house bump stylishly, so just trying to find something nice.
Although I've not been able to wear my waspie/waist belts since getting pregnant, so I don't mind if I can't find anything lovely and vintage!

i like the 'keyhole' idea under the blue satin suit...made me laugh

I think that in those days, women in 'that condition' tended to be hidden away indoors hence all the hideous stuff.

i have just checked Etsy and they seem to have a lot of vintage patterns etc
