Basically, the kind which are quite loose and could be rolled up to create a sort of casual preppy look.

Went into Gap today but all they have are the sort of tapered leg type ones which don't look good on my slightly chunkier calves.

Anyone know what i mean?

Sorry for the typos in the thread title Blush

They do a straight leg version which they call skinny. TBH they really are not skinny as I am not exactly slight of calf and ankle and they fit me as a straightleg here

messylittlemonkey · 25/05/2011 14:37

Thanks tulpe

I tried those ones on but they were too fitted for my liking! They looked good on the hanger though!

Have you tried the Banana Republic website? Worth a look...

Blackduck · 25/05/2011 14:46

Landsend had some in their Canvas selection...

NorksDrift · 25/05/2011 17:38

Are these any good?

cardoon · 25/05/2011 18:07

I have slouchy ones from Zara - can't see them online but they have several colours in store.

Popbiscuit · 25/05/2011 18:10

Do you have Esprit there? I always like their trousers for my chunky athletic legs.

Millie1 · 25/05/2011 18:42

I got a nice pair from Fat Face.

kikidee · 25/05/2011 18:43

I was going to post on exactly this topic! I have some nice navy ones that I got from Gap last year but would like some khaki ones. I have so far tried ones from Oasis and Zara which looked very promising but were really neat at the calf.Today I bought these but haven't tried them on yet so will report back.

CountBapula · 25/05/2011 18:47

Ooh yes, please do report back as I've been looking for some too and have tried on pairs from New Look, Oasis and Dorothy Perkins (not the ones above though) and the fit has been really weird on all of them Confused

tulpe I love the Gap Real Straight jeans - are the chinos a similar fit?

messylittlemonkey · 25/05/2011 19:51

Thanks norks thse are spot on. Will also look in Zara as I do vaguely remember seeing some in there when I wasn't really looking IYSWIM.

H and M are doing bargain ones at the moment but they're actually quite good...I have the navy, khaki and pink!

messylittlemonkey · 25/05/2011 19:54

Sorry, does anyone know what the sizing is like in Uniqlo?

I'm a 12 on the bottom but having said that I could be a 14 if I was in Topshop or similar! I also have 33" inside leg. Have you got these trousers norks?

OP posts:
NorksDrift · 25/05/2011 20:54

Sorry I haven't got them so don't know about their sizing. I've bought tops/jackets there which seem fairly true to "normal" sizing IYSWIM.

tulpe · 26/05/2011 08:15

CountBapula - no idea, I'm afraid as not tried the Real Straight Jeans. They are close but not skinny fit through the leg, if that helps at all Confused.

messylittlemonkey · 26/05/2011 12:57

countbapula I wear the Gap Real Straight jeans and would say the fit of the chinos is similar, certainly in the lower leg area anyway.

CountBapula · 26/05/2011 13:08

Ooh cool, thanks - might give them a try then.

kikidee · 26/05/2011 20:54

I am reporting back - the DP ones are the best so far but still not quite right. They are too tight at the knee (!!) instead of the calf so they will have to go back. I think the Uniqlo ones look perfect.

carlywurly · 27/05/2011 08:21

Second Fat Face. They have a pair (called Marsh or something I think) which comes in 4 colours and is really nice. I have the beigey ones and have worn them lots.
