Clarks shoes!

I'm in turmoil!!! Looking at the 'black and blue' thread it appears that NO ONE likes Clarks shoes. I've just ordered these ones as I thought they were pretty for summer. Are they hideous? I can take it, just tell me please!

(not very good with links but I've tried!)

well I think they're nice.

What's wrong with Clarks anyway?

I own at least 3 pairs and they are very comfy stylish.

Megatron · 25/05/2011 11:55

I've got a couple of other pairs too which I think are comfy stylish too. Slightly worried that I am in fact the old fogey I'm trying not to be!

I like those but then I don't have a problem with Clarks. I think it is hard to dismiss a whole shop that has such a wide range of shoes. Most shops have some stuff that is good and some that isn't.

HappyAsIAm · 25/05/2011 12:20

I don't get it either. I have these www.clarks.co.uk/find/department-is-women/producttype-is-sandals/product-is-20343931 and I love them. Really comfortable (despite my bunions - and I'm only 35) and stylish enough for me, anyway.

polyhymnia · 25/05/2011 12:34

My problem with them is that they always used to be very frumpy so I had a poor image of them - but, from what I've seen on MN, seems they've improved greatly in recent years. Sadly, my local suburban store has yet to catch up and carries a very small, unexciting range, so I need to go to one of big London stores to try - which, wherever possible, I like to do before buying shoes on the net.

MABS · 25/05/2011 12:54

i like the Brighton store and I like the ones you are getting too

JosieRosie · 25/05/2011 12:56

I LOVE CLARKS SHOES!!! Admittedly I give a lot less of a feck about keeping up to date with styles than I did a few years ago, but I still love them. Some are utterly hideous, granted, but I think there are loads of styles which are pretty/funky as well as being sooooo comfy Grin They can be a bit pricey but worth it in my experience.
So don't let all the grumps on the other thread get you down OP - you're in good company here and I'm sure your feet love you lots

sparkle1977 · 25/05/2011 13:19

I like them too, nothing wrong with those shoes.

I am 50/50 about Clarks, some shoes are nice, some are still a bit old fashioned and the boys ranges are dire in my opinion.

coffeenut · 25/05/2011 13:25

I'm with sparkle.

I did buy my first pair of clarks shoes (flat riding style boots) last winter and whilst being fairly plain, I did get quite a few compliments and queries as to where they were from. I'm early 30s. They are so comfortable. I was a bit embarrassed to say where I bought them though!

gregssausageroll · 25/05/2011 13:25

I've got lots of shoes from Clarks in the last few years.

Black pumps for work are great and very comfy. Never a blister.

I've got pink pumps to wear with maxi skirt/jeans in the summer.

Boots have always been pretty good and are particularly good in the sales with price.

MooM00 · 25/05/2011 13:34

If you're a size 8 like me,Clarks are an old friend. I don't bother shopping anywhere else as they never seem to have my size.

herbaceous · 25/05/2011 13:38

I'm herbaceous and I'm a Clarks lover. I've got lots of their boots, partly because they're one of the few shops that make them wide enough for my gargantuan calfs, and get lots of compliments on them, even from trendy people.

You have to search out the good stuff, but that's what makes it fun.

dustwhatdust · 25/05/2011 14:04

I do think people who dismiss clarks as uncool are seriouly foolish and narrow minded and rather isecure in terms of a fashion victimy sort of way !

Clarks have a whole range of shoes for a whole range of people, some you'll like some you won't - like all shops .

Megatron · 25/05/2011 14:43

Oh I feel much better now. I'm keeping my Clarks and shall wear them with pride!

JosieRosie · 25/05/2011 15:07

Woop! Good for you OP!

Gillybobs · 25/05/2011 15:51

Ive just bought these and EVERYBODY wants to know where they are from.

I love Clarks. Yes they sell shoes for old ladies too but every year for at least the last 5 I have had a couple of pairs of gorgeous shoes from there.

GeorginaWorsley · 25/05/2011 18:38

I wear Clarks shoes and sandals alot, and always get compliments.
Admittedly I chose carefully.

TigerseyeMum · 25/05/2011 20:13

I love Clarks, I grew up wearing Clarks shoes as my dad made them, so now my feet are 'healhy' shaped which means they are a buger to buy for!

But, Clarks shoes actually fit, you get proper sizes including half sizes and wide fitting, and they are properly made.

I always go there first. IN fact, I get loads of compliments when I wear them. I am only 37 but my 20-something colleagues love my shoes.

I once had to walk 5 miles in deep deep snow and the high heeled shoes I had on were not only up to the job but lived to fight another day!

I am fashionable but not a victim. IMO people who only shop from certain shops lack the confidence in their own choices. I shop anywhere and have my own style.

Meggles76 · 25/05/2011 20:17

I love Clarks too and I am uber stylish Grin

OhBuggerandArse · 25/05/2011 20:24

I have these , to universal acclaim. Or at least everyone who's commented on them likes them, dunno what the others think!

niminypiminy · 25/05/2011 20:55

And I've got these, which I absolutely love. And even if some other people don't, well, I don't like their gladiator sandals from New Look. So ner.

Ambernj1 · 25/05/2011 21:53

I tried on these the other day which are lovely but my swollen pregnant lady hooves didn't do them justice!

Purplebuns · 25/05/2011 21:56

Soups I have those and they are fabulous! Very comfy, positive compliments, although have had a few Dorothy jokes but I think they are the daft twats as they are PINK! Most of my shoes are Clarks and I am early twenties, and uber cool lies so ner. :)

Soups · 25/05/2011 22:30

Very tempted Purple, I've been looking for purple shoes to wear with jeans, but pink will do.

I've been stuck in a rut of clunky boots in winter, sandals / trainers in summer.
