Tasked with finding my Mum an outfit - help me!

OK, Mum has been invited to a very posh garden party 'do'. She rarely dresses up, and has told me I have to find her an outfit (eek!)
She is (a young) sixty-ish, very slim, doesn't like her legs so will need a long skirt. Anything I pick she says is 'too young' - so I need your help - what would be some good shops for her me to go to?

A long chiffon duster coat over trousers and a silk shell? My mum got something like this as she also hates her legs and wanted trousers so she could wear flat shoes - not confident of heels in grass!

Do u live near London? My sister got married last year and my brother the year before and both times the personal shopper at peter Jones has found her a gorgeous outfit.

For my brothers wedding she had a green and purple silk chiffon wrap dress with purple jacket from jaegar.

For my sisters a cream shift dress with pink roses from lk Bennett with a cream phase 8 jacket.

Both outfits gorgeous and really her but not something we would have considered her trying on.

By her I mean my mum...

Thanks, will have a look at Phase Eight, LK Bennett and Jaeger. I'm not in London but Mum is near to London, so perhaps will have to organise a shopping trip when we visit next week :)
Biggest problem is a hat. She hates hats! I will probably get the hat when she's been to the garden party - so I'd better find a good one!

Have a look at the 'mother of the bride' section on ebay - loads of different outfits, and cheap as chips. I got my mum an entire Jacques Vert outfit (jacket, dress, handbag, hat) that had been worn once for £50
