Recommendation needed for eyeshadow that stays put!

Title says it all really, I have oily skin and use an oil free moisuriser, but after about two hours my eye shadow ends up in a long line in the middle of my eyelid! Very annoying, would be grateful for any advice/recommendations of long lasting make up. Thanks.

Clinique make an eye primer that goes underneath eyeshadow and prevents creasing, it's called 'canvas' I think, it's really good!

I use a dab of bobbi brown concelor on lid first and stila eyeshadow, its totally fab.

MrsHuwEdwards · 23/05/2011 20:44

No, wait, it's called touch base for eyes ~ www.clinique.co.uk/products/search/ecat.tmpl?search=canvas

Urban Decay primer potion is good.

Thank you for those tips, will try the Clinique one first I think, as I have tried other Clinique make up before. Anyone know of an equally good eyeliner??!

Ime Urban Decay and Lancome do the best eyeliners - Clinique ones are nice but don't stay put as well.

Urban Decay primer is amazing

Havingkittens · 23/05/2011 21:40

Do you powder your lids of just put e/s over your foundation? Do you wear foundation come to think of it? A lot of clients I have that complain of this don't actually wear foundation at all. You need to put a light covering of foundation over your lids, then powder, if not all over, definitely in the crease. Then put a sheer layer of Urban Decay primer over the lid with a soft brush and let it set a little before applying your eyeshadow.

Jemma Kidd liners are very good too. Especially if you want the colour to stay on your water line.

Gosh waterproof eyeshadow sticks. Fiver each in Superdrug. They don't shift all day long

Havingkittens · 24/05/2011 11:54

I like to put a bit of base on too as I don't find the primer opaque enough to neutralize the lid colour first. Also, my method is probably "belt and braces" because I need my clients/models make up to last up to 18hrs.

Thanks for all these suggestions, will work my way through until I find something that works! I don't use foundation as such, just the all in one powder thingy from body shop as I find it the speediest. Perhaps I need to spend a bit more time on the basics.

Another Urban Decay vote - but don't get the shimmery one, it's annoying (though still works). The only product I have bought three times in a row without trying something else!
