Before, out of desperation, I order some linen trousers

Has anyone got any suggestions for comfortable, summer trousers, that keep you cool. I'm bored of wide legged linen blend trousers.

They're for my summer hols. I'd like some lightweight trousers that would do for evenings if it's chilly (we're camping + we'll be in mountains for part of the trip). We'll also be at a theme park, for a couple of days, where it'll be very hot, I don't want to be wearing a short floaty dress whilst upside down on a rollercoaster. So they'll have to look OK with flat shoes that stay on my feet.

I have short legs, so they need to be petite.
I don't want close fitting, it will be very hot sometimes.
I'd prefer not patterned.
I quite like Palazzo pants, but they're a bit too much for my frame.

sigh I may as well put the linen trousers into my shopping basket.

Have you discounted any type of harem - even nice ones from Hush?

Soups · 23/05/2011 13:54

I was contemplating harem's. Long as they're not too loud, or too saggy bum. I'm 40 ;)
Never heard of Hush before, off to google.

LIghtweight rolled up chinos....very very on trend, go with every top imaginable. They are in almost every shop just now

blossoming · 23/05/2011 14:52

these cropped harem style trousers
or these turn up trousers. A bit ££ but would probably wear well. I have their pleat front shorts and I love them.

Being rolled up would get round the problem of my short legs!

i've been having the same problem and ended up buying the new look linen trousers. I've nearly fell over laughing recently when i've seen people wearing baggy harems. but both those trousers from wrap and very nice, i can't bring myself to spend that much though....or can i. I've tried on some rolled up chinos in new look but they didn't suit me, perhaps i need to stay away from new look.

The hush harem trousers are FAB, not MC Hammer at all

I like the wrap ones on blossoming's link too but the hush ones prob more comfy as are jersey

and gillybobs is right - lightweight rolled-up chinos are up to date, widely available (so you can find a pair that flatters - I like the ones in Next of all places - not too pleated at the waist), and very comfy

daimbardiva · 23/05/2011 16:23

I second harem pants too - I got a really nice pair of non-MC hammer ones from Dorothy Perkins. V cheap too, so won't matter if they get repeatedly soaked on log flumes! :)

I had a similar problem. I went, on my own, no one watching me, to a huge M and S and tried on literally dozens of pairs of trousers till I found something that matched what I wanted. Then I went to H and M and bought something I also liked which was more trendy. Done: two pairs acceptable trousers, one for when I did not feel glam, one for when I felt more effortful. The H and M ones were navy blue slightly cropped sateeny cotton side zip, nice; the M and S ones were a blue cargo type thing but not too cargo ish. Worth a go. M and S do different leg lengths too.

I do like the wrap and hush ones, wonder how long they'd be on me. Love the colours Wrap have on their site, very tempted by their vest tops, shame about the price tag.

Found these roll up Next ones? www.next.co.uk/g3694s1 I prefer darker colours on my legs, dirt is attracted to me Grin Or should I be going paler? With chino's do I need a more fitted jacket? I have tons of big chunky knits!

Also by next, in petite, not very baggy.

www.next.co.uk/g364214s3#953159g36 I suppose it depends on how much the pockets stick out.

shambles, that's my problem, short legs, long body.

Lots of quite short trousers in H&m which can then be rolled up to make them shorter.

I have white/cream, navy and black. They should probably be 3/4length but I am 5ft4 and short-legged (or long-bodied) so they are just above ankle on me but roll up really well because they taper at the end.

Nice and cheap too.
