Mulberry bags

I'm looking for an 'everyday' Mulberry bag for a special present for myself - it will probably be the only designer bag I ever own so I need to get it right!

I've been scouring the Mulberry site and just can't decide between the real classic Bayswater (but think it would need to be in Chocolate when most of my shoes etc are black), the East West Bayswater which probably could be right in black, or something a little less classic such as the Somerset Shoulder.

I also like the Alexa, Bella Hobo and Cory Hobo.

I'm spoilt for choice, please help Smile

Mulberry bags are gorgeous but if I were you I'd go for the classic Bayswater or the Roxanne. Smile and get them in classic colours too!

I've got a Bayswater in oak leather, I've had it since 2006. It goes with absolutely everything (I tend to wear jeans and tweeds in winter, linens in summer) and just looks better with age. Go for a Bayswater, you won't regret it!

carciofi · 23/05/2011 07:43

I was also going to suggest the oak colour, I have an oak east west Bayswater that goes with everything. The Alexa is lovely but I'd go for a chocolate Bayswater if and when I buy another!

2nd oak, it darkens beautifully over time, and goes fantastically with black or dark brown, grey etc.

jesuswhatnext · 23/05/2011 09:16

i have a black bayswater - very strange but it goes with so much stuff i would never normally have worn a black handbag with Confused, again, it just looks better and better with age! (a bit like me! Grin)

Meggles76 · 23/05/2011 09:17

Another Bayswater in oak vote here... it is a classic design and colour that will always look stylish

polyhymnia · 23/05/2011 09:53

Just curious - does the Bayswater handle sit on the shoulder with plenty of room?

shortround · 23/05/2011 10:02

I adore the bayswater in oak, and have loved how mine has aged. I am one of the few on the planet who sold her roxanne as i loathed how the pockets and buckles curled with age.

i I dont carry mine on my shoulder, it fits now, without a coat, but in the winter wouldnt be great.

JohnniesBitch · 23/05/2011 10:12

The bayswater is lovely but i find it is a carry in your hand or the crook of the arm bag and doesnt fit comfortably on the shoulder.
I have oak and a purple bayswater. MY alexas are in oak and ink, daria large hobo in black, mitzy in oak, roxanne in oak and a Beatrice in black and finally a Leah in oak. out of all of them the oak roaxanne and the daria hobo are my favourites they seem to go with anything and the oak leather is getting better with age.
Of the others you have mentioned i would go with the Bella in oak. that is next on my hit list. I brought the modalu pippa bag in an oak colour but the leather and quailty are just not there, although that is to be expected as the price is significantly less.

faustina · 23/05/2011 12:35

I can carry my Bayswater on my shoulder, but i'm quite small. the East West has much longer handles, and I used to have one of those but got rid because it wasn't big enough. I also had a Roxanne with custom longer than usual handles, so it was ok on the shoulder, but just not comfortable, and I didn't like the way it hung.

Definitely go to a shop, take all the bits out of each bag - all that paper and stuff, then put your purse in it or something, and walk around for five minutes. It will really help you to see which is best. They have lovely staff - so helpful!

sesameseeds · 23/05/2011 12:59

i have the black bayswater, very simple yet practical and elegant!

lorelilee · 23/05/2011 13:11

I have a black Bayswater Hombre which I chose because it has pewter fastenings/metal finishing - am not a fan of gold. I got it from an outlet and use every day for work and love, love, love it! I am currently looking for an Anthony that doesn't have a gold fastening to use at the weekend.

chipstick10 · 23/05/2011 13:28

Can i add my pennysworth please. I have the oak printed bays. It needs less babying than the non printed and its slightly sturdier if you prefer less give. I have the bays in black spongy leather. I am not a black bag person, but the bays in black is stunning. It is a bit awkward to wear on the shoulder tbh, but i am a lone voice i think who doesnt like the east west bays. , i dont like the long straps. I have the mitzy medium hobo in oak. You may like to consider that for comfort. Its very comfy on the shoulder and in crook of arm. Its roomy and hardy. For classic beauty it has to be the bayswater but remember its quite heavy to carry.

big

Dancergirl · 23/05/2011 17:37

I have an East West Bayswater in purple patent!

I don't like huge bags and the Bayswater is....BIG

The east west is a more more manageable size imo.

misssugar · 23/05/2011 17:54

SGertie · 23/05/2011 18:26

IVe got a chocolate bays and adore it, I'm proably rougher than I shoyld be with it and it looks fab for it, I like bayswaters when they look 'well loved'...... Have got a roxy that don't really use and an anthony too but my absolute fave is my mitzy messenger I've tied the strap in a knot so that it can wear it on one shoulder and it gets lots of compliments!!

Try going to an outlet for a fab bargain - only ever been to york one but the staff there are fab!
