my 40th -what to get and what to wear?

My 40th is coming up - what dress could I wear for dinner w DH and also for a party w our friends the next week?
Also what should i get as a present? I quite like those Alex monroe necklaces - the peapod one or cup and saucer? or something else..

Remember the black and white skirt I showed you? Have just ordered a bargainous grey and white Hobbs tulip skirt that reminded me v slightly of it.

what's the budget? I agree anglomania is great...though if it's sunny/warm the jersey may be a little hot...would this work? dvf is very flattering on and looks good with nude heels. Also in purple but weirdly the purple was a different cut when I tried it on (not as flattering)
