Style and cycling-can the two mix or are they like oil and water?

Have realised why I hate getting on the bike (whilst enjoying the freedom it brings)

I hate the helmet and the leggings and the rainwear.

So I have fitted a new chainset with a guard so I can wear trousers wider than skinny and have purchased a new Bern Muse EPS helmet in cocoa to try and regain my cycling mojo.

Any tips?

I have given up on the hi-vis yellow around town.

I got a bright orange raincoat in the sale from land's end - a swing style so I can wear it fastened up on the bike OK. Boden sometimes do nice plasticised ones with a 2-way zip so again it's comfy on the bike.

I would never give up on the waterproof trousers - I don't need to wear them often but they are very comforting when there is a deluge.

And I never wear jeans on the bike - don't find them comfy and they are a pig in the rain. But I love tunics with leggings.

I love the Bern Muse! I have a Yakkay with different covers for summer and winter.

i wear a lovely north face softshell jacket 90% of the time and only proper waterproofs if i know it's going to tip it down all day.
means i feel ok at lunchtime and other times off the bike.
