So what shoulder length hair style would you have? So I can nick it.

Tell me your ideal chin or shoulder length hair cut so I can get my hair done tomorrow. I have persevered and nearly grown all the layers out. I now have a bog standard shoulder length brown mop.

I was going to get a very blunt bob and fringe but am worried it will look aging.

Ideas please ladies .... all welcome I'm fairly adventurous.

Oh and thank you Smile

What face shape do you have?

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 18:59

Oval with extra chin Wink I guess

Side parting, side fringe (check which is best side of your face and expose that side) :)

meltedchocolate · 19/05/2011 19:07

With a shaped bob I should add. I don't think a blunt bob n full fringe is a good look for most people.

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 19:55

will that not make me look old and boring?

I like Jennifer Anistons latest hair, Thats what i'm growing mine into anyhoo

hang on

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 20:02

Oooooh I like that but I will need a fringe, as I sort of have one now and have eyebrow issues.

I haven't found a hair cut I can't pull of yet.....

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 20:03

sorry forehead issues, Freudian slip there as was just about to fetch gel as have just waxed my brows Blush

Well I am young and fun (21) and that is my cut, though my hair is a tad longer. Not sure what is young and fun in your opinion but I wouldn't go for something wacky and 'young' and 'cool'. They never look that good on anyone other than teens, and celebs...

meltedchocolate · 19/05/2011 20:38

That is a pretty cut. BTW I think a side fringe IS a young cut.

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 20:49

This is more what I want to here Grin ..... I mentioned I was probably getting a bob, and another Mum described it as a "mid thirties cop out" Sad

Love that Jennifer Anniston style, any idea what to ask for from the hairdresser? Sorry for hijack

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 21:59

hijack away, I'm still random googling with little result.

i did massive drastic very long to very short haircut six months ago and have since grown it/had it shaped into a long (shoulder-length) bob with blunt fringe and i LOVE it. think its much less ageing than long, long hair and feels trendier and so glad i didn't go for weather-girl style sensible hair.
tried the posh bob thing but thought it looked a bit ho-hum.
you go for it. (it will always grow back!)
ps i got lovely colour rinse too

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 22:31

I know I can pull off the fringe as I've done it before......but I like all the sweepy sidey fringes the youngsters are wearing too. But they look like hard work.

Is yours easy to maintain Running?

OP posts:
RunningUphill · 19/05/2011 23:02

yes and no. fringes are always a bit hard work aren't they? or maybe that's just mine because i've got fine hair.
if i can be bothered/for nights out i use straighteners.
otherwise i let it go a bit wonky a la alexa chung. (is it ok to be over 35 and reference her??)
i have had side sweepy fringe and found it a lot more work. plus resulting tendency to walk with head slightly to one side in order to keep it in place is really just for teenagers :-)

Honeydragon · 19/05/2011 23:09

hmm, your hair is the same as mine. tbh I think a sweepy fringe would kink unless a ghd'd it to death. Looks like my bob and a bog rasberry to judgy mum who doesn't like them.

RunningUphill · 20/05/2011 05:54

bravo! enjoy it.

meltedchocolate · 20/05/2011 10:25

Enjoy! New haircuts are always much fun :o

Honeydragon · 20/05/2011 13:05

It's done Grin

I said to the hairdresser that what I wanted was a blunt bob.... but wasn't sure, and she told me it would suit my face shape and would be nice to do one for a change, as opposed to telling people it won't suit them instead.

I am liking it lots Grin

That's lovely. Wish I could have a fringe. In fact, just decent hair would do.

Melissaanddoug · 20/05/2011 22:32

That is lovely, have had hair disaster, well mess, this week (colour) so am timid to try any major cut changes on top.
I do like the fringe, lucky you able to wear this!

RunningUphill · 21/05/2011 00:13

yayay! it's gorgeous (and exactly what i have too :-))

enjoy it
